You’ve probably seen Fittonia, or nerve plants, at most plant shops. These dramatic plants make an amazing addition to any collection!
☀️ Bright light, but direct sun burns. Morning sun is good, and grow lights are great too.
💧 Consistent moisture is key - Fittonia wilt quickly when thirsty. Do not let this plant dry out all the way. Ambient humidity is fine, although this plant will appreciate any extra you can give.
Check out this gorgeous red nerve plant we have in-store!💚

Come visit us to find that special plant baby to bring home!💚
Syngonium podophyllum, or the arrowhead vine, is a very common houseplant. Do you have any Syngonium?
☀️Bright, indirect light is best. Due to the thinner leaves, direct sun can burn them so it is best to give morning sun and bright shade throughout the day.
💧These plants will wilt when thirsty, and do appreciate regular watering. Water when about 75% dry. Regular room humidity is fine for Syngonium.
Fun fact: Syngonium are native to Mexico, Central America, parts of the Caribbean, and tropical South America!💚
Happy Thanksgiving, plant enthusiasts!! We’re closed today to allow our employees time with their families, but we’ll reopen Friday with a weekend long sale! 30% off all plants!

Looking for an easy propagating project? Try propagating a Pothos plant! They start roots very easily, and can make even the most inexperienced propagater feel like a pro!
•
To propagate:
🪴 With a pair of shears, snip between two nodes (the little bumps on the stem), assuring that you have at least two to three nodes above where you’re snipping. Swipe to see a picture of a node!
🪴Stick your fresh cutting in a glass / jar of fresh water!
🪴Play the waiting game! Within a couple weeks you should see some roots appearing, and once they’re a few inches long? You can plant them!
🪴Enjoy your new plant(s)!

For some, Alocasia can be quite a daunting genus to grow. But we’re here to tell you it just takes some practice!💚
☀️These plants love bright light, but direct sun (particularly afternoon) will burn the leaves.
💧Consistent moisture is best for Alocasia. They do not like to dry all the way out and enjoy a little bit higher humidity, especially the ones with thinner or velvety leaves.
Fun fact: there are around 90 accepted species of Alocasia, native to Asia and Australia!
Attention, PH patrons! The holiday season is almost upon us! Please see post for holiday hours!

Prayer plants, like this red Maranta, are some of the most popular houseplants out there. They are most loved for their interesting foliage and because the leaves move throughout the day.
☀️Medium to bright indirect light, such as an East window, is great for this plant. Too much direct sun can burn the leaves, but this plant likes morning sun and warmth.
💧Prayer plants can be sensitive to tap water, so bottled or filtered water is preferable. When the soil is about halfway dry, give your plant a thorough watering. Normal household humidity is fine for the Maranta.
Check out one of our Marantas here, showing a 6 hour difference!💚
Happy Veterans Day! A massive thank you to all the brave veterans out there, including our owner, Jacobo, who served in the USMC. Happy birthday Marines! This weekend (10th-12th), we’ll be offering 20% off to all Veterans! 🇺🇸 🙏 As a reminder, we always offer a 10% military discount, every day.

Do you own a Begonia? We love a healthy mix of cane and Rex begonias.
☀️Begonias are often brightly colored, and with the extra color comes the need for bright light. Direct sun will burn these leaves, but a little morning sun never hurt anyone.
💧These plants do not like to dry all the way out, but don’t like having wet feet either. You’ll begin to notice droopy leaves when they’re thirsty. Regular waterings will be your friend here, especially if you’re in the desert like us!
What kinds of begonias do you enjoy?💚
Do you have any Aglaonema, or Chinese Evergreen, in your collection?
Here’s what you need to know about caring for these gorgeous babies:
☀️ This plant is native to Asia, where it grows on the forest floors. Bright, indirect sunlight, such as from an east window, is ideal. Aglaonema tolerate lower light and risk burning in direct sun.
💧 Chinese Evergreens like to dry out between waterings, as they can be prone to root rot. A good rule of thumb is to water if the soil is halfway dry. Water less if there is less light, and more often in higher light conditions.
Fun fact: Aglaonema are loved globally for their symbolism of prosperity and good fortune!💚
Today and tomorrow we’re having a sale to honor all those who were here with us before - all living things who have left us! Come in for 20% off your purchase at Plant Haven!
Sale ends 11/2/23 — in-store only!

There are so many books out there about houseplants. Whether they span lots of different genera or just have some general tips and tricks, houseplant books have a wealth of knowledge!
Here’s a few we have in the shop, do you have any favorite houseplant books?💚
Happy Motivation Monday! Just as we care for our plants, we have to care for ourselves too.
Plant care is self care!💚
Tradescantia, otherwise known as the inch plant or spiderwort. This plant hails from Central and North America and has at least 85 recognized species so far. This type of plant is ideal for a hanging basket since it grows and trails quickly.
☀️It can be kept indoors or outdoors, and could actually do well in the shade outside in Las Vegas! Tradescantia needs bright light to maintain its signature vibrant colors and give you flowers.
💧This species likes to be consistently moist, which will mean more watering if you grow this plant outside. We recommend not allowing it to dry out completely, as this will cause extra stress on the plant.
Do you own a tradescantia?🪴
We have lots of great services available! From in-store diagnoses to home visits, we’re here for your entire plant journey.💚
Propagating snake plants doesn’t have to be difficult, it just takes a little patience😉
To propagate a snake plant, find a nice plump leaf and cut off however big of a piece you’d like. Next, make a couple cuts on the bottom of the snake plant leaf (see jar in photo) that form a “V”. This gives the plant plenty of room to grow new roots and new babies!
‼️It is important to allow your leaf to callus for a couple days before placing in water. This helps prevent rot.
💧Keep your propagation water clean by changing it out around once per week if needed.
We love snake plants! Do you have a favorite variety?💚

Watering💧
It’s something we’ve all probably struggled with a time or two. Depending on the type of plant, more water may be needed - for example, Begonias love being moist. On the other hand, succulents and cacti prefer much less water than our houseplants.
Watering deeply but less frequently often gives the best results. If you’re a top waterer, make sure to water until it runs out the bottom of your pot. Bottom waterers should be careful not to let their plants sit too long in water, which could lead to root rot.🚫
We’re here for any questions you might have about plant care!💚
Mealybugs🪳If you’re a plant parent like us, you’ve likely dealt with a pest or two. It may not happen often, but we’re here to help when it does!
Mealybugs are scale insects that feed on plant juices, eventually leading to plant death if the infestation is bad enough. They are attracted to warm, moist areas and new growth, and can appear if you overwater.
🚫To get rid of these pests, use a cotton swab with a little rubbing alcohol and dab it right on the mealybug. This kills them immediately. Spot treating whenever you find a couple helps keep your plants healthy.
To prevent mealies and other pests, we use Arber. A quick application of diluted Bio Insecticide on the leaves and stems helps kill any remaining mealies by ingestion.
We’re here for any of your pest questions and even offer in-home diagnoses and treatments!💚
