My latest special report for KING 5 is about a fascinating industry, but one that is surrounded by stigma. Did you know WA is the only state in the U.S. with an outright ban on alcohol sales in strip clubs?
Dancers tell me it's affecting their safety, their incomes and their pride.
But a "Strippers Bill of Rights," which they've long fought for, is soon heading to Governor Jay Inslee's desk.
Photojournalist Andrea Esquetini and I broke down the reasons why Washington strippers are skipping town and heading to our neighbors to the south: Oregon.
(Shoutout to Joseph Huerta and Hsing-Han Chen for their contributions to this as well!)

Life lately. King 5 & Julie Wolfe, thank you for giving me the platform to tell important stories that deserve our attention. Feeling more grateful now than ever to be a news reporter.
This was Seattle's deadliest mass shooting of the year. Three people are dead tonight and six others are wounded (one critically) after a mass shooting this morning at a hookah lounge in South Seattle. Details:
More teens are getting hurt at work, according to one Washington state agency. It comes as new data shows more teens are joining the workforce in the Evergreen State.
ALSO, this week marks my five-year anniversary in THE BIZ. What a ride it’s been, and so much work but so very rewarding. Here’s a look at some of my work from just the last several months here at King 5. Thank you to everyone who’s supported me to be the best reporter, storyteller, anchor, watchdog, confidante, personal therapist, editor, host, interviewer, writer, shooter, public servant etc. that I can possibly be. The communities I’ve worked in hold special places in my heart (ID-NV-WA… you know who you are!). 🎥❤️🩹
A short little teaser for my latest KING 5 story. "We were so shocked that they would have done this," said The Mountaineers' CEO Tom Vogl. The first official play at the Kitsap Forest Theater was performed exactly 100 years ago this June, but this year could be The Mountaineers Players' last year performing there if they lose a legal battle in September. Check it out on KING 5 in tomorrow's morning show -- or here: https://www.king5.com/article/news/local/theater-production-continue-after-being-locked-out/281-0f83f4ee-39d0-472e-a57e-7cf17df573bc
HOT HOT HOT: It'll be another scorchin' day in Western Washington tomorrow, and local businesses are sharing what kind of demand they're seeing for A/C units. Plus, what firefighter officials say NOT to do-- to keep cool in the heat.
"VERY UNSETTLING": Olympia police said around 4 p.m. Sunday, somebody walked onto a person's lawn and viciously stabbed somebody's pet-- THIS white Husky dog-- with a "machete or something similar." Police believe a brown pickup truck is connected to the suspect. https://bit.ly/44SEfru

In a vote that stunned many including the governor, a compromised bill to pair drug possession penalties with treatment pathways failed in the House before adjournment tonight, and now it's possible that on July 1, drugs are legal to possess at the state level in Washington.
Imagine being on the tram at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, and the man next to you falls to the ground in cardiac arrest. Would you be able to stay calm and give him the help he needs? 29-year-old Tara Fitzgerald was able to do just that. #Watch the full story tonight at 11 on King 5.
King County to vote on crisis care centers
Picture this: Walk-in clinics. Operated by King County. For people suffering a mental health crisis.
It's an idea Seattle City Council is urging people to vote "yes" on.
So what is it?
I spoke with County Executive Dow Constantine and a local mental health leader.

TERROR AT MICROSOFT: A "significant sentence" is possible if the Microsoft stabbing suspect is convicted, prosecutors told me today. An employee of the tech giant also told me that Microsoft has increased security at their campus since the seemingly random attack. #WATCH: MORE: https://bit.ly/3IB4iJA
