Our Story

Children's Service Guild of Southern Nevada Founded June 6, 1969. 51 years and still going strong for the children! Since June 6, 1969, we have been raising funds to help children touched by the Clark County Family court system. 100% of money raised and donations goes to them. From our President on down, we are all volunteers working tirelessly out of much love for the children. We are always seeking new members and donations. Please send us an email.

Here’s our story:
In the 1960s, Spike Bybee, then director of Child Haven, asked a social worker, Fritzie Woods, to gather a group of volunteers to assist the children in any way possible. Thus the Children's Service Guild was formed in May of 1969 with Fritzie Woods being our first president.

The original seven cottages at Child Haven were built in the 1970s when the court system was way out with lots of land. CSG was able to assist by collecting enough money through grants and donations ($200,000) to build the Child Haven cottages. Plus we were able to hold the babies and love all the children. The original cottages were updated through the "Adopt a Cottage" in the 1990s and now, two cottages have been rehabbed and expanded through our efforts. Howard cottage was expanded and redesigned so siblings could be together. Beazer cottage was doubled in size and arranged so it would be able to serve as an intake center and an overnight haven for children who were brought in during the night or for families with numerous children that might be more difficult to place in foster homes.

As the 49 years have passed, CSG has been able to quietly assist in many ways. In the late 1990s, the Family Court System split into two divisions: Juvenile Justice and Family Services. Obviously, Child Haven, a portion of the Family Services side, has been a pet project for us. *But we have also been able to assist the Juvenile Justice side. When Clark County built a new 100 bed dorm at Spring Mountain Youth Camp, we decorated it with bedspreads, curtains and whatever would convey warmth. We also assisted with a new kitchen. CSG was able, through a sizable donation, to create a football field for the camp. We have been a large supporter of all their programs and sports teams. Supplying them with shoes, helmets, clothing plus rewards banquets, incentives and so much more.
