I appreciate your support. My name is Scott Edwards and I have the honor of serving as the LVPOA President. Treasurer through multiple successful audits.
I have worked as a Corrections Officer for the City of Las Vegas Detention and Enforcement since 1999. I have been on the LVPOA board serving as Treasurer, Vice President and President since 2007. During my time on the union board I have served as the LVPOA representative for The Southern Nevada Conference of Police and Sheriffs (SNCOPS), interviewed local and state politicians for potential endor
sement, team member for the 2013 and 2015 Contract negations, webmaster for the LVPOA website, administrator for the LVPOA page, converted our finances from paper records to QuickBooks. I am very active with ensuring that our members have what they need at LVPOA events such as the LVPOA days at the Christmas party, LV 51’s and Wranglers games. I ensure all retirees have their shadow boxes commemorating their service. I have represented numerous members in all phases of investigations up to arbitration. Ensuring that our members are treated fairly and with the respect they deserve. I have established relationships with the leaders of the Las Vegas Police Protective Association (LVPPA), The Las Vegas Police Managers and Supervisors Association (PMSA), North Las Vegas Police Officers Association (NLVPOA), Henderson Police Supervisors Association (HPSA) and Teamsters Local 14. These relationships allow me to communicate more freely about current issues. The relationship I have established with the LVPPA allows LVPOA members to receive discounts to various California theme parks. In January of 2015 I was honored to be appointed by the LVPOA board as the interm Vice President. and in September I was appointed as President. I would like to retain this position so that I may continue to fight for the improved quality of life you deserve. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to travel to Carson City for the 2015 Legislative session. I testified against many bills that would have lowered your benefits and quality of life. There are many legislators who now know who the LVPOA is and what our hard working members deal with on a daily basis. In the end with the great help of our coalition we were able to defeat bills that would tear apart the fabric of our benefits. While there were some defeats, they were greatly diminished because of the relationships we have formed. In my opinion, I have the experience necessary to be part of the union leadership. As you can see from the list above I am very active in the things our union is doing. I also have the passion to ensure that all are done to the greatest benefit of the LVPOA membership. Even when facing my own personal challenges. I believe that I am levelheaded enough to have a meaningful dialogue with the LVPOA members and City leadership. However, I am aggressive enough to ensure that our needs are met to the greatest extent possible. I have always made myself available at all times to the membership. I have listed my cell phone number (702)-523-4932) on my election page; I put all board members personal e-mails on the LVPOA website. If you ever have a question just ask. I have no problem explaining my actions and I always welcome input and criticism. I am not a boastful so there are many things I have not listed. Please understand that I do not take my leadership position lightly or for granted. I have a BA in Criminal Justice. I have numerous hours of union specific training. I am a retired Army veteran. I am a married father of 5 boys (Men) and 4 beautiful grandchildren. In closing, I hope you look at my accomplishments in working for you. Respectfully,
Scott A. Edwards
