The Good News Channel
"An elderly woman came into my station today and gave me $3 in change to put on her gas pump. A police officer was standing behind her and happened to hear the amount and saw she was using a cane, struggling to walk back to her car. He went outside and told her to sit in the car as he would pump the gas for her. After a few minutes of getting to know one another he realized she was really struggling and didn’t have any gas or money left. The $3 will only get her so far. He told her to hang tight- came inside and put her another $20 out of his pocket. He went back and finished pumping and she told him her husband had recently passed away and she’s stuck paying all their bills and is behind every month. This $20 really helped her! She would of most likely ended up running out of gas.
Nowadays there’s so much negativity towards police officers. No one respects them. We hear all the complaints and “bad” stories. I’m not saying every officer is perfect, I’m sure some are at fault at times. We all make mistakes- but we should all respect, appreciate, and thank them for what they do.
Leaving your family everyday to try and make sure everyone’s else’s is safe can be tough. Think about it- who do you call when you’re in danger? Who’s running in harms way as you’re running away?
To all the men and women in blue I THANK YOU for your service!"

If you have a cell phone, you've probably noticed an increase in text messages from people you don't know. According to call-security firm RoboKiller, Americans receive 18% more spam texts, also known as smishing, than last year.
This is particularly concerning, given how practical this tactic is. The Federal Trade Commission reported $330 million in losses last year to fraudulent texts. Given the vast underreporting by fraud victims, we expect this is just a fraction of the losses.
With smishing scams on the rise, here's what you need to know.

• You receive a text message claiming to be a legitimate business or government agency.
• You could be warned of an urgent issue with your bank, retail account, or shipment.
• Or the message tries to entice you with the promise of free prizes, gift cards, coupons, or deals.
• You'll be instructed to click a link to learn more, pursue an offer, or resolve a problem.
• You may also be asked to provide personal information—such as your banking info, credit card number, or Social Security number.
What You Should Know
• Criminals use caller ID spoofing to make the text appear to be coming from a trusted or local source.
• Clicking a link may take you to a spoofed website that looks real but isn't, such as that of a financial institution. If you attempt to log in, the criminals can steal your username and password.
• Other links might install harmful malware on your phone that steals your personal or financial information without realizing it.
• Beyond suspicious or mysterious links, warning signs of fraudulent texts include urgency, misspellings, sales pitches, and misleading or incomplete information.
• Remember that government agencies almost never initiate contact by phone or text.
What You Should Do
• Do not engage with texts from unknown numbers or others that appear suspicious, even if the message says you can "text STOP" to avoid more messages. (This confirms your number is active, which will lead to more scam texts.)
• Avoid clicking on links from texts; instead, type the web address into your browser directly, use your app if that's an option, or call the "sender" using a verified phone number.
• Never share sensitive personal or financial information by text.
• Report texting scam attempts to your wireless service provider by forwarding them to 7726 (or "SPAM").
• Filter out junk texts by updating your phone's messaging app settings, using call-blocking services through your wireless carrier, or installing call-blocking apps.

“After only 12 months in my brand new home, the heat pump went out. The good news is, it was covered under warranty; the bad news is, the labor was not covered and could cost me $1,000. This didn't sound like a very good warranty to me so I called my law firm who did some research online. My lawyer contacted the heat pump manufacturer for me and negotiated with their attorney on my behalf. The repair turned out to be only $500 and the heat pump manufacturer paid for half of it quite promptly. I am a happy camper and the heat pump has worked fine ever since. Thank you, LegalShield.”

Bank of America
Here's what you need to know about a trending scam
Zelle® is a fast and easy way to send and receive money with people you know and trust. As always, our client's security is a top priority, and we want to make sure you know the red flags that signal scams so you can stay protected. Review the information below to learn more about a trending scam.
While Bank of America may send you a text to validate unusual activity, we will never contact you to request that you send money using Zelle® to anyone, including yourself, or to share a code to resolve the fraud. If you receive a request like this, it is likely a scammer trying to trick you.
Here are the details of the "pay yourself" scam
You receive a text message that looks like a fraud alert from your bank about unusual activity. The text may look something like "Did you make a purchase of $100.00 at ABC merchant?".
If you respond to the text, you have now engaged the scammer and will receive a call from a number that appears to be from a bank.
They'll appear to be a representative from a bank and will offer to help stop the alleged fraud by asking you to send money to yourself with Zelle®.
*The scammer will ask you for a one-time code you just received from a bank.
*If you give them the code, they will use it to enroll their bank account with Zelle® using your email or phone number.
The scammer now has the ability to receive your money into their account.
What you can do to help stay protected
*Don't trust caller ID — it's not always who it says it is.
*Don't share codes based on a call you receive.
*Don't be pressured to act immediately.

Slim-down scams continue to make gains
Many Americans are eager to slim down with the warm weather approaching, and scammers, as always, hope to pack their pocketbooks while we all try to unpack the pounds. In fact, according to the Federal Trade Commission, in 2021 bogus diet products and programs accounted for nearly 30% of all complaints in the category of health care scams.
How It Works
• A web search on weight loss pulls up legitimate-looking websites.
• These sites may contain articles claiming celebrities have achieved amazing results from their weight loss program.
• Other times, you'll see a social media post promoting new ways to lose weight.
What You Should Know
• Diet and weight loss programs often encourage you to sign up for a free trial — which, if you read the tiny print, opts you in to getting charged for regular orders or additional products.
• Weight loss products touted as "natural" or "herbal" don't necessarily mean "safe" or "wholesome." Some herbal ingredients are even toxic in certain doses.
• Engage your inner skeptic. Ask yourself if the promised outcomes seem to match up with what the program offers.
What You Should Do
• Seek advice from a trustworthy source, such as your doctor or a dietitian, before you commit to a weight loss regimen.
* Contact Your legal Lady4Life (702) 43LEGAL / (702) 435-3425 & get the #1 Identity theft coverage available! Visit cramer99.WeAreLegalShield.com
• Be skeptical about a product or program promising you'll lose a specific amount of weight per day, week or month, or ads that tout weight loss products that are a "miracle," "revolutionary" or a "scientific breakthrough."
• If a product claims to be backed by scientific studies, look up those studies to independently verify that they exist and are credible.
• Check out a weight loss company's reputation by searching with the Better Business Bureau.
