It’s with heavy hearts and deepest sympathies that we announce the sudden passing of Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy Anthony Cutcher. Earlier today, Deputy Cutcher was involved in a motor vehicle accident in Lawrenceburg TN, ultimately resulting in his passing. The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is asking for prayers for friends and family during this difficult time.
Along with fundraising we also apply for several grants a year to help up obtain equipment for the dept. This year we were lucky to be awarded the Rescue Squad Grant. One of several state grants. With it we were able to obtain a new set of rescue tools. A new Amkus Spreader with a set of extended tips and a new Amkus Cutter. Also, we were able to get some new electric chain saws and extra reciprocating saws for the rescue trucks and a K9 saw for cutting metal and making access into buildings and/or vehicles. We received batteries and some demolition blades as well. Big thanks to Res1cue owner Mike Boston, our Amkus dealer and a local business owner and also a former member of our dept. These rescue tools replaced our original set of battery tools that were nearly 20yrs old.
Nobody told us how to act, we just knew.
We knew to show up on time, in uniform, shoes tied, shirts ironed.
We knew not to be the first one to take a seat at the table.
We knew it was our job to answer the doorbell, even at 0330 hrs.
Especially at 0330 hrs.
We knew to be the first one on the pole.
We knew how to follow.
We knew there was a lot we didn't know.
We knew because the people who were sitting at the table made it abundantly clear what was expected of us.
And we knew that we could trust the people who used to be the first to pick up a mop, the first to hit the pole, the one to answer the door in the middle of the night, who knew their district, had learned to understand the inherent danger we faced and how act like firefighters.
We trusted them, and then we were them.
We knew, and nobody told us. It was simply understood.
It's not rocket science.
It's life.
It takes a leader to create a leader, and without leaders and people willing to follow everything falls apart.

Over the next few days all those in our area will be receiving our postcards for our annual mailer. If you have any questions about it feel free to reach out to us here or any of our members and officers with any questions. This allows us to reach out to as many people in our area as possible with some information about the dept and what we are doing with the money we receive from you all in our fundraising efforts.
This is what your postcard should look like and also remember we will not be knocking on anyone’s doors and if anyone does claiming to represent the dept please report that to us here and to the Lawrence Co Sheriff Dept.
A member arrived at the station this afternoon to find this heartfelt reminder of Jackson at the station door. ❤️
Thank you for sharing it with us.

For Immediate Release:
Subject: Fatal Structure Fire
At approximately 7:46 AM Lawrence County Fire Rescue Units were dispatched to a residential structure fire with possible entrapment in the New Prospect Fire District. A multi agency response was initiated. First arriving units found a heavily involved structure fire with occupants trapped inside. An aggressive interior attack along with coordinated search was launched. Despite our best efforts the fire has been deemed fatal. Units remain on the scene. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
The new firefighters, fresh from the academy answer the door bell. They scrub the toilets and wash the floors. They wash the trucks, and operate the equipment.
When it's brass day, they polish the brass. They prepare the meals and clean the kitchen.
The new folks get on the truck, dressed, belted and ready in thirty seconds. Or less. They arrive on scene with packs on their back and the right tools in their hands.
They get the dirty jobs, the dangerous jobs, the heartbreaking jobs. They pack the hose and get ready for the next one.
The new folks do everything the old folks do, and they do it together.
Because they are firefighters.
And that, is how good firefighters get things done.
We have wound down what was an incredible day for us at NPFD. By 530 we had sold out of everything except a few desserts. The support we have been shown by our community and friends once again humbled us beyond measure.
Thank you to everyone who came out we are so thankful to everyone. The people who weren’t able to stay but just stopped by to donate to us was absolutely astounding as well.
A special thanks to Chad Moore for helping us out with some desserts I know he will pass those thanks on to the ladies of Mars Hill Baptist Church for answering his request to help us.
We also made some new friends today. Some traveling a whopping 710 miles just to try our fish! If that isn’t some of the best word of mouth advertising I don’t know what is.
That said we did have some problems with a few pieces of chicken. To those people we apologize with all our heart. We strive to serve the best food we can but sometimes things are missed. We only mention it to let you know that we appreciate the support and we will do our best to keep this from being an issue again.
All and all we have had an amazing day and it is all due to all of our friends and family that help us make this happen and the support of our community and neighbors. We could not do what we do with them and without all of you.
We remain here to answer your call when you need us. We remain here able to serve you because you continue to support us.
Thank you again to everyone from us all at
NPFD
