Leffler's Service Co., on 9th Street, rolls down its garage doors for the final time Leffler’s Service Company, an independent family-owned auto service shop in operation since 1973, closed its doors May 10.

It has truly been a memorable 6 year journey for Sue and me as we owned, and managed, the Allen Theatre and Backstage Cafe. It feels like it was just yesterday that we purchased this historic property from Skip and Martha Hicks. I’m not going to lie, it wasn’t all “peaches and cream”. Anyone who owned a small business during Covid knows exactly what I mean. However, the good times outnumber the bad by a landslide! We enjoyed the relationships that we established, and appreciate all of you who supported us by catching a movie, a live event, a sandwich, or a cup of coffee.

It is now time to turnover the reigns to Mike Cantor, who plans on merging his Salamander Books & Music business with the Allen Theatre. As with any small business, Mike will need your support to keep those historic doors open.

Our last day of ownership is this Sunday, May 19th. Sue and I will now patronize movies and live events instead of running them!
