In my practice, I've witnessed the remarkable potential of natural remedies in supporting my patients' breast cancer risk. Today, I'd like to share one of my favorite tools for hormone balance and detoxification: broccoli sprouts.
🌱 Broccoli Sprouts: A Nutritional Powerhouse 🌱
Broccoli sprouts are not your average greens. They are a concentrated source of sulforaphane, (100 times the sulforaphane as broccoli) a potent phytonutrient renowned for its role in detoxification and hormone balance. Here's how they work:
Detoxification Enzymes: Sulforaphane in broccoli sprouts triggers the production of detoxification enzymes in the body. These enzymes help break down and remove harmful substances, including excess estrogen.
Hormone Balance: Excess estrogen, particularly the more aggressive form known as estradiol, can be a risk factor for hormone-related cancers like breast cancer. Sulforaphane helps regulate estrogen metabolism, promoting a healthier balance.

Let's talk about what affects the production of thyroid hormones. We know that nutrients, like iron, iodine, tyrosine, zinc, selenium, vitamin E, B2, B3, B6, C, and D can contribute to the proper production of thyroid hormones but what can inhibit the production? Well, we know stress, infection, trauma, radiation, medications, autoimmune disease, fluoride, and toxins are known to inhibit the production but can also increase the conversion of T4 to Reverse T3. We don't want to increase this conversion as Reverse T3 is metabolically inactive.
