In 1996 I released Cloudy Eyed 👁 Stroll 💨 a song about smoking w**d. Imma keep it a B. Tech N9ne is so cold he had the song written a head of time without the beat. Tech loved this specific Sade record but you know getting sample clearance was hard at that time and I didn’t know how to do it. So I’m like wtf Imma do. Me and Dyamund Shields is debating about what should be the single. That’s how Cloudy Eyed Stroll was on the A side of the record and Mitch Bade is on the B side. So now Tech is like Juan what are we going to do. Me being a DJ I know how to match up a instrumental to an acapella before I actually do it and mix it. So I’m in my grandmothers basement on 56th and Highland and I turn on DJ Quik. On his first record he had this instrumental calls Quiks Groove. I listen 👂 to it so much made a similar beat. I called Lyle Gibson which was a friend of Brion Dennis Techs friend art director and helped Tech with his own image. Lyle laid the guitar. Tech heard the beat and said that’s it. Remember Tech has the experience and been on Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis label so he taught me as well as Sean Icyroc Raspberry how to produce that major sound. Tech had to approve all his beats and it is some he didn’t like. Me and Aaron Yates love David Djquik Blake so much, all we wanted to do is work with Quik. Man Quik is the best to I study and try my best to work with the best. To work with with Tech and to stand next to DJ Quik is an Honor because they paved the way for me. I had to get it poppin with Vinyl Records that was the DJ was going to spin it. Get cassette tapes. Get Cds and we have to put them in the store and then promote and market it. Out the trunk, traveling to other city’s. NO INTERNET.💪🏿💯👊🏿🦍 I’m glad to be apart of the culture.
