Commerce Plaza The Children's Business Center
Commerce Plaza is an financial literacy program for fifth grade students and life skills students. What is Commerce Plaza?
A simulated business community that promotes an understanding of the world of business and economics. Working together in partnership with Long Island’s school districts, students are exposed to the basic principles of economics during a six-week preparatory period where the Commerce Plaza curriculum is introduced. A full-day field trip to the site integrates lessons learned from the classroom wit
We hope everyone is enjoying their summer!☀️One month until we're back in the office.
Teen Summer Parks Program at Marjorie Post begins tonight! Come on down, Massapequa Teens!
Teaching kids about money early on is essential for their future success and well-being.
As a parent, it’s both terrifying and exciting to watch your children grow up. This guy just filled out his first direct deposit form, but there was a time when he liked coins more than paper because they made a lot of noise in his piggy bank. 😊🏦
Happy Birthday America 🇺🇸
I would like to thank MacArthur High School Levittown Public Schools UFSD students Allessandra DiNoto and Michael Waters for donating their time & talent to Commerce Plaza. The doors were given a much-needed facelift, making the space more welcoming for Long Island students.
Giving back to the program they both attended when in fifth grade shows our commitment to our community and our program's lasting impact.
The 2023-2024 school year has come to an end. We will check email periodically throughout the summer and will be back in the office in mid-August.
This year, we hosted over 5,200 students, our highest year to date, and over 82,000 students since we opened in May 2000.
Due to the increased interest in our program and financial literacy as a whole, we are beginning three weeks earlier next year to accommodate as many schools as possible. We have many new schools coming next year, and we are excited to introduce our program to them.
Thank you to all our sponsors who make these trips possible for students across Long Island.

Commerce Plaza is so much more than a financial literacy program. Our program also gives students the opportunity to explore different careers. Today’s group came prepared for the future.

Thank you so much to the students of Oceanside High School for this wonderful donation. The lasting impact our program has on students is truly inspiring.
The OHS business honor society raised $850 for Commerce Plaza. Commerce Plaza is a program under the umbrella of YES Community Counseling Center that provides financial education to children. The business students held a Mother's Day plant sale to raise the funds. The students pictured are college-bound seniors and hope that their peers will continue to support programs that promote financial literacy.
Thank you to the parents of Roslyn School District

With Massapequa Chamber of Commerce – I just got recognized as one of their rising fans! 🎉
Great job today! The students of McKenna Elementary School Massapequa Public Schools really brought their "A" game.
Teaching financial literacy at a younger age helps children develop healthy, lifelong financial habits.
It was a privilege to have had Karen Tenenbaum in our corner, at YES and Commerce Plaza. Please let us know if you would like to join us in paying tribute to Karen’s unyielding commitment to children’s financial literacy.
The Girl Scouts take on Commerce Plaza.
This spring break, Cadettes from Levittown and Massapequa worked together to complete the My Money Habits Badge. These girls were amazing at writing checks, using a debit card, budgeting, and learning how to be savvy shoppers. Their hard work and dedication really show what it means to be a true Girl Scout.

The students from St. Agnes School in Rockville Centre did a fantastic job today. This is the first time St. Agnes has attended our program, and the students were so enthusiastic and eager to learn. We are grateful to the teachers for working with us to prepare the students for their day of "work".
