Its sweater season and I just HAVE to make a cardigan. Ive been researching for weeks and I think I'm ready. As soon as this basket is done 😆

10/17/2022

I had a busy couple weeks but im back to working on this scrap basket!

09/27/2022

The scrap basket is working up nicely. I love the random bursts of colors. Each color change is a different ball of yarn that wasn't big enough for an individual project. Im excited to see the final result!! It will be auctioned off here on Facebook as soon as its complete! Follow so you don't miss the post 💜

09/26/2022

I've started a basket to eat all my yarn! I cant get more until I use up the little bits I have left. Look out, I will be hosting a silent auction for the finished piece! I've got 4 different yarns worked in so far. The colors will be sporadic. It should be perfect for toys, yarn, all those random cords you never know what to do with but don't want to toss out, couch blankets, etc. There are endless uses for baskets!

How to make a slip knot, chain, and stack rows of single crochet. 09/19/2022

My coffee is my camera man and my camera is my eyes! Video tutorials are not for the weak lol. I combined the first 3 lessons I mentioned last week. Video 1 will show slip knot, chains, and stacking rows of single crochet using US terminology. You will need an average yarn (I used size 4 which is widely available) and an appropriate sized hook! My yarn reccomends 5.5mm but I prefer a 4.25mm for snug stitches with no gaps. Play around and see what you like. A large hook will cause a stretched out look with gaps between stitches where a tiny hook might cause crowded stitches very close together. I use acrylic because its cheap and easy to work with. Anything planning to be exposed to heat such as a potholder or kitchen towel will need to be 100% cotton to prevent melting. This tutorial will teach you the knowledge needed to make rectangles. Try to make a basic scarf, just in time for fall! Your foundation chain length determines the width of your work and the number of rows will determine the height. Dont forget to come back and show me your attempts or ask questions!

I will be starting a series of virtual crochet lessons this week! Lesson One will teach slip knots, chains, and the slip stitch. Slow and steady wins the race. You cant make much with this knowledge alone but I dont know a single pattern that doesn't use all three. Lesson 2 will teach the single crochet. Lesson 3 will piece it all together and teach you how to stack rows into your first project! Be on the lookout ❤

*I use US crochet terminology which is different from UK terminology*
