Is there anything better than a summer Star Party? According to one Cub, “this was the best time in the universe!” We enjoyed some out of this world snacks and activities, then got to viewing. We found lots of constellations and stars, including Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, Lyra, Scorpius, Draco, Vega, Leo, and more. We saw several shooting stars, lots of satellites and, with the microscope, we even saw a nebula!

🐾🌞Pack 142 hit the trails at Bastrop State Park today! We participated in a guided hike with Master Naturalists where we learned about edible plants, the loblolly pine trees, the fires of 2011 and 2015, and chased a few lizards... then we cooled off in the pool! 🏊

This year we decided to forgo pinewood cars for rockets! 🚀 🚀 🚀 Our Cubs each built their Gnome rockets at home and this afternoon installed engines and launched them together. We also got to see a larger rocket launch a few times. It was lots of fun and great to mix things up.
Pack 142 had our annual Blue and Gold banquet yesterday. We celebrated the achievements of all of our cubs and leaders through the last year and each scout made rank, meaning they completed all requirements to move up to the next den. We also celebrated three scouts who achieved the highest scout Cub Scout rank - Arrow of Light - and crossed over to new adventures beyond the pack.
❄️A few weeks ago these boys earned their Polar Patches! A Scout is BRAVE. 🥶
Scouts assisted with the Lexington United Methodist Church service this morning for Scout Sunday. We appreciate the church for supporting our pack and troop. A scout is reverent.

Merry Christmas scouts and friends of scouting.
The Cub Scout motto is “Do Your Best.” Today our Wolf, Bear, Webelos, and AOL dens had planned to do a particular activity, but that plan had to shift on short notice due to unforeseen circumstances.
To watch these scouts accept the change and enjoy playing games together instead was a great example of our motto. Kids and adults had fun playing together and got a good lesson in how to roll with what you can’t control.
Our scouts have been baking up a storm. Come by our booth at Christmas Around the Square in Lexington this afternoon to try their treats! Market starts at 4:00.
Our annual Veterans Day Dinner was a great success. Pack 142 would like to thank Gardner Barbecue, Petersons Foodmart, New York Pizza and Pasta, and Mary Retzloff for their donations, all of the parents who helped, and most of all our local veterans for their service.
A GREAT job tonight with Pack 142 and Troop 142 for Vet’s Day dinner!!!!! My view was a little different tonight. I am so excited to see the parent involvement coming up! You all are going to great things!!!!
🇺🇸 Our cub scouts will be honoring our local veterans by preparing and serving a meal and entertaining with skits and jokes. All veterans and their families are invited to attend. 🇺🇸
🇺🇸 ✌️Webelos got together for pizza and then helped raise the flag at the high school game tonight. 🍕
Thank you to US Air Force veteran John Gibbs for coming to speak to our Wolf, Bear, Webelos, and AOL dens today. As we prepare to host our annual Veterans Day dinner on November 12th, this was a great opportunity for the Scouts to learn about who we are honoring and why. The Scouts also practiced interviewing and information gathering by asking Mr. Gibbs their questions about his time in service.
⚜️ Pack 142 Fall Camp Out was loaded with adventures - hiking, dutch oven cooking, fire building, s'mores, knots, lashings, whittling, first aid, BB guns, falconry, and just running and playing in the woods! ⚜️
‘Back to Pack’ September has been a blast! We welcomed some new Lions and Tigers, handed out lots of achievements at our Pack meeting, worked on new adventures at our Den meetings and had tons of fun doing it all. We’re so excited for what the new year of Scouting has in store for these cubs!
At Join Scout Night, the boys and scoutmaster from Troop 142 came to show the younger kids how to tie a lark’s head knot, then demonstrated its effectiveness. When the younger children were pulled on a sleeping bag, the tension placed on this hitch style knot made it secure. Also, it was lots of fun!
Stop by the Lexington Elementary Cafeteria (enter through back door) tomorrow, September 12th to learn about scouting and sign up for the coming year.
