The Hawaii State Department of Health confirms an additional case of pertussis (whooping cough) on Hawaiʻi Island. This new case closely follows ten recently reported cases, bringing the total to 11 pertussis cases on the Island from March to April 2024.
See a doctor as soon as possible if you or your child is experiencing symptoms, such as runny nose, fever, and coughing violently and rapidly.

Call 9-1-1 immediately if you or your child is:
• Struggling to breathe
• Turning blue or purple

If you are diagnosed with pertussis, take antibiotics as prescribed and avoid contact with others until you are no longer contagious. People can spread the bacteria from the start of the first symptoms and up to three weeks after coughing fits begin. Taking antibiotics early in the illness may shorten the time someone is contagious.

March is National Nutrition Month. Come celebrate with us all month long. Our first class is on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. This is a HYBRID class. We are cooking with farmer's market fruits and vegetables. Our color of the week challenge is yellow-orange-red.

Our free healthy food pantry is this Saturday! Please spread the word to anyone in need. We could also use a couple extra volunteers if anyone is available from 9-12 on Saturday.
