Championship Course - Hole 8
Hole number 8 is a long and difficult par 5. The tee shot demands a long carry from any of the first 4 tee boxes. You will have to make a decision on the second shot. The options are to cut the corner and leave yourself a manageable 3rd or to swing for the fences without a view of the green. The green is protected by a front bunker and large mound. This hole will play more difficult into the south summer breeze.

The fitness center at Firethorn Golf Club features the latest cardio machines, weight machines and free weights for use by our members. There is also a fitness studio for classes which run multiple times per day. What sets the fitness center at Firethorn apart? It's the view!

Championship Course - Hole #7
Hole number 7 on the Championship Course demands accuracy right from the start. A narrow opening through the trees off the tee is just the beginning, course out of bounds left and a tree lined jail along the right will make you scramble just to make a double-bogey. The green has 2 distinct tiers and a back left pin placement can make even the best putter question their read.

Friday's With Friesen
On this weeks episode of Friday's with Friesen, Steve shows us a putting drill which was made popular by Phil Mickelson This drill allows you to work on distance control. To do this drill set one ball 10 feet away from you. Putt the each of the next 5 balls just past the previous ball. You are successful in this drill when the distance between each putt is small.

Hole number 5 at Firethorn is the original number 1 handicap. The tee shot requires a long carry to one of the narrowest fairways on the course. Out of bounds left and a creek to the right penalize any tee shot that is offline. The green is protected by 2 bunkers and a creek and slopes hard from left to right.
