Backyard Gardeners
The snow day I’ve been wishing for! ❄️
Eventhough I’m working remotely today, once I’m done I plan on taking the girls out and enjoying a little fun in the snow!!
Snow day by you? How are you spending it?
Thanks for sharing!! Thank you for the support!!
Last week we had our official first frost but these Thai chili peppers (and one last cayenne ) are still cranking! 🌶️
August is the Monday of Summer ….except in the garden!
I’m bummed that summer is coming to an end and I will be returning to work next week but the garden tomatoes and peppers are just getting into their groove!
✨✨Garden kneeler from …super useful and light weight! Check it out and use code Gassfamfarm15 to save 15%! ✨✨
May somehow simultaneously felt so long and yet went by so fast.
It was a busy month outside of the garden and some of June will be as well but with summer only a few weeks away I’m looking forward to spending more time inside in the garden.

Lemon drop peppers are ready!
These cute little guys pack a decent punch (15,000-30,000 scoville units. For reference, Jalapeños are 2,000-8,000) with a tangy lemony taste!
Excited to spice things up with these little guys!
Have you tried lemon drop peppers?
Early morning pepper harvest!
Now to process them into some pickled peppers and some hot sauce!
Varieties include:
Green bell pepper
Purple beauty bell pepper
Banana pepper
Candy cane red pepper
Serrano
Jalapeño
Red Thai chili
Lemon drop
Buena mulata
Are you a spicy pepper fan? How do you use them??
Time for a bigger basket!
Local friends: having a little tomato sale today!
Message if you’d like to stop by 😊
Our peppers are poppin! Almost harvest time 😊
A little early morning gardening before that sun really hits!
Saving my knees and really just my body posture in general, using the garden kneeler instead of crouching in an awkward position to reach our low beds.

Happy Sunday and Happy gardening!
What we’ve got growing in the garden these days, besides all our tomatoes:
Patty pan squash
Sweet and hot peppers
Edamame
Carrots
Sunflowers and zinnias
We also have some pumpkins, butternut squash, summer squash, and kabocha squash that are growing well despite the best efforts of slugs and vine borers.
This weekend we will be cleaning up some beds and start some fall garden crops.
We’ve reached that point in summer where we can’t keep up with using as many tomatoes as we’ve grown!
✨✨✨Wanted to reach out to any local friends here and see if anyone (or know anyone)would be interested in buying some tomatoes. ✨✨✨
These are fresh picked from today and the varieties include:
Early Doll (big, meaty and sweet)
Green Zebra (sweet and tangy)
Costulo Genovese ( old Italian favorite, tender and juicy)
Red grape( small but meaty )
Yellow pear (sweet and mild)
Blueberry (small, sweet and juicy)
Message me if interested! Since it’s just our small family garden I don’t have an endless amount to offer but it is fresh picked and delicious 😊
(Feel free to share to local friends …and thank you!)
A fun little surprise in the garden today when I realized I totally forgot about the raised bed full of beets.
There is definitely a bit of pride and joy in all the harvests, big or small.
This will go straight to the pan for tonight’s stir fry and I can relish in the fact that I know exactly where the veggies I am giving my family came from and how they were grown. It also encourages my kids to eat their veggies, which is always a plus. 😊
Picked myself some flowers at an attempt of a festive garden bouquet.
Wishing all a happy and safe 4th!
Growth and harvests around the garden this morning!
Harvesting a lot of black radish this week buuuuut I’m not exactly sure what to do with them besides chop and toss into a salad 😬 I do find these to have a little bitter bite though so I’m hoping cooking them will cut it.
Any Ideas/suggestions welcome!
Thinning out the carrots! 🥕
We let our carrots grow a bit before we thin them out because our girls think it’s fun to eat them at this little size.
Last year shared an idea to use the carrot tops for pesto and we tried it and liked it. So that’s what we do now and it makes thinning carrots not so heart wrenching (ok a bit dramatic but you get it lol) when we know none of it goes to waste. 😁
Newest blooms in the garden.
Asiatic double lily and a new ranunculus 🧡💗
It’s really starting to feel like summer with the hot days, long nights and now our first sunflower bloom. This one’s nothing spectacular or unique but sunflowers just bring a whole vibe of joy and sunshine, and I love it!
Enjoying all the blooms in the garden, even the promise of ones (like the last picture of our sunflower)
Taking this birthday weekend to enjoy the blooms in my garden of friendship and family (so cheesy , I know 🙃). Hope you have a wonderful weekend too!
Just giving our first peony bloom a permanent spot on here.
Isn’t she a beauty? 😍
Warm but overcast with a nice breeze. A nice morning to be in the garden. 🌱💚
(Im)patiently waiting for this Foxglove to fully bloom! 😍
And a Rocky Mountain penstemmon that I totally forgot I direct sowed last year. (Swipe to see)
Enjoy the weekend garden friends!
We are looking forward to some extra time in the garden but mostly some time with our close friends and some extra snuggles and play time with our daughters.
Sage is flowering 💜🌱
