At the Village Board meeting on November 27, the Village approved a Lindenhurst Economic Assistance Program (LEAP) Grant to Three Legged Brewing. Three Legged Brewing is an up-and-coming cold brew coffee company. LEAP program money will help Three Legged Brewing establish the first cold brew coffee brewery in Chicagoland at the Lindenhurst Center to can their cold brew and operate a retail store front. In observance of Thanksgiving, Village Hall will be closed today, Thursday, November 23, and Friday, November 24. Village Hall will reopen for regular business hours Monday, November 27, from 8:30 am- 4:30 pm.
Monday, November 27th is the last day for free leaf and yard waste collection. Other yard waste items, such as grass, brush, and branches, require a yard waste sticker. Yard waste stickers can be purchased at Village Hall (2301 E. Sand Lake Road) and CVS (2020 E. Grand Avenue).

Diwali is a festival of lights where participants light small oil lamps around the home and pray for knowledge, peace, and universal well-being.

After 40 years of service, the Village will stop operating as a postal substation and move to a stamps-to-go service effective close of business on November 22. The stamps-to-go service will be a user-friendly option for residents to purchase stamps because it allows the Village to now accept credit/debit cards instead of only accepting cash and check. Congratulations to the participants of the 2023 Lindenhurst Citizens Academy! The Citizens’ Academy Program educates participants on the inner workings of Village departments, including Administration, Police, and Public Works. Through a series of informative workshops over eight weeks, residents had the opportunity to gain insights into the policies and procedures of each department. This initiative aims to foster a deeper understanding of the Village’s daily operations among its residents, ultimately promoting greater transparency and community engagement. 🎃🚓 Chilly and snowy weather? No problem! The Lindenhurst Police Department didn't let the weather scare us away from participating in Halloween festivities. We had a "ghoul" time keeping everyone safe and building relationships with our community! 👻🍬
Happy Halloween!🎃👻 As a reminder, Lindenhurst Trick or Treating hours are today, October 31st, from 4:00- 7:00 p.m. The Lindenhurst Police Department would like to remind residents of some safety tips before heading out for Halloween trick-or-treating.
👻Plan Ahead- Set a designated route for your trick-or-treaters to follow. Be sure to select a meeting point within the route if someone gets separated. Make sure trick-or-treaters have a list of emergency contacts, including parents' phone numbers.
🎃Road Safety- Always use crosswalks and obey traffic signals. Trick or Treaters should look both ways before crossing the street and walk on sidewalks when possible. If driving, please drive slowly and be alert!
👻Costume Safety- Ensure costumes fit well to prevent tripping or falling.
🎃Trick or Treating Supervision- An adult or a responsible older sibling should always accompany young children. If older kids are trick or treating, establish a curfew and check-in times.
The Village of Lindenhurst is now hiring qualified applicants for a full-time Maintenance Operator I or Laborer (depending on qualifications) in the Public Works Department. 🦺💧⚙️
This position is a member of a work crew performing semi-skilled and unskilled labor work within the Public Works function to repair and maintain Village infrastructure that includes streets, water distribution, sanitary collection, and wastewater systems, including a 2.0 MGD treatment facility. Additionally, the position will assist in snow removal operations on Village streets. The Maintenance Operator I/ Laborer is a full-time position Monday- Friday from 7:00 am- 3:00 pm and is available for on-call status on rotating shifts during weekends. This holiday season, Lindenhurst Police Department is "cracking down" on hunger with First American Bank during the Season of Giving Food Drive to make the holidays brighter for those in need.🥫🚓 The Season of Giving Food Drive will collect non-perishable food items through November 11. All donated items will be collected and distributed to local food banks. Donations can be dropped off at First American Bank (1906 E. Grand Avenue), Lindenhurst Police Department (2300 E. Grand Avenue), and Lindenhurst Village Hall (2301 E. Sand Lake Road).
