What I'm reading this week π₯
When I first started building websites, I made a lot of rookie mistakes:
π€¦π»ββοΈ I thought a lot of website visitors meant sales.
π€¦π»ββοΈ I thought a beautiful website would make more sales.
π€¦π»ββοΈ I thought simply describing the service would be enough to...
you guessed it:
make more sales. π₯
But one day, I stumbled across a website copywriting service that had me scrolling through page after page of content, looking for free resources, then looking at the services themselves that I finally realized:
Copywriting is just as important as SEO and Design.
That's why I've been binging textbooks, courses, trainings, blog posts, and great fiction authors to learn Writing that Works.

And it's not even about the caffeine for me.
It's the process of walking to the kitchen, getting a soft mug out, and making a warm drink that has such a sweet smell and an even better flavor.

It takes all day, almost every day to make any progress...
But in the morning, when I wake up, I know I get to enjoy a warm cup of coffee. I reflect, and take up the motivation I need for another day.
And my goals thank me for it.

What I'm reading this week π₯
When a client hits the top of a search results page for their most profitable keyword, the champagne bottles pop and I become a very happy lady.
This Spring, two of my clients hit the top of the page within 2 weeks thanks to a strong launch on Social Media.
My own website tripled its users last month because of a great social media referral.
Social media is my favorite inbound marketing strategy, and websites are my favorite sales tool.
I'm not a salesman.
Anyone else feel like that? They say the salesmen is the most valuable and it's a skill worth learning.
I've tried sales. I've read a ton of books, but found that the life of a salesman is not the life I want.
I'm more of a customer experience girly, a strategy guru, and a competitive designer.
But here I am, getting clients and helping my clients get their own clients.
That's the beauty of a great website and social media.
So here's to learning and growing, to social media and SEO. π₯

I said gave the word we're all afraid to use this week - TWICE - and as a result, I had more time for my perfect-fit, dream client work. And time to rest.

I'm not immune to wish-upon-a-star moments of hoping for something to happen that hadn't yet.
And all of my wish-upon-a-star moments have happened when I didn't see any possible way for my dreams to come true without a little outside intervention.
I think in the professional world, we do that subconsciously and often by waiting for something to happen "in due time" with hard work and patience, without changing our strategy to encourage the results we want.
So for instance, if I wanted to drive more sales with a stunning and personable social media strategy, and I had no social media/marketing/design experience, I wouldn't pick up a dandelion and hope for a miraculous breakthrough, or wait for it to eventually take off with the slightly off-kilter photos I had stored in my phone last week.
I would find someone who's done it many times before to do it again for me.

First of all, on a note of honesty, it's always a good idea to ask people what they think of your logo before you launch it.
But there are no regrets on this end.
My Maverick was my muse, as my closest compadre. (I've never seen such a tough little dog be so super insistent on snuggling). And he's such a super stereotypically loyal dog.
Of course, though, he's a mess to take care of. βAnybody who doesnβt know what soap tastes like never washed a dog.β π«£
I chose him for my Mascot because he's so trusting, happy to be there, and devoted to being good.
That's how I am with my clients: Relational, Reliable, and Really Devoted to Being Good.
So no, I don't sell dog toys - but that's a great merch idea π
