Grand Opening! Cool new studio is opening in this weekend and they are having a big bash to celebrate! It's should be lots of fun!
P.S.- Porcelain necklaces are here! Cords cut and prepared to order with choices!!!
Earrings!!! I've been loving making these and wearing a pair of my own. Some are make with stamps and cutters I 3d printed with our new printer. Some are crochet. Loving playing with new glaze colors too. Started playing with porcelain paper clay for some of those too!
I will have these at the Craft Fair this weekend and will be making more for all my shows this summer. Stay tuned for more info on those.
This weekend kicks off my summer of shows! I've been playing with a lot of new things in the studio, including new earrings and necklaces. I'm excited to share it with all of you! I'll be inside by the stage all weekend. If you're near Ken Caryl, come say hi.
Happy birthday to this beautiful goof! Officially a dog but always a puppy
Finally got my first kiln!!! Such a great deal! Made it home safely despite the lack of planning with packing the van. It's a little propane Olympus.
Finally got my first prototypes of cubical wall planters up in my office! I had the idea for wall hanging planters in December that evolved into cubical planters recently as I grow my office forest. Aloe plant was given to me by a coworker and hasn't fully rooted yet, not sure what the other plant is, but it is fuzzy and i love it. If you know what it is let me know!
I'm planning to have some of these with the wall hooks and regular wall versions at the summer sale with
I promise I will work on posting more pottery pictures soon but tonight I have to brag about our sweet puppy Paya. She graduated from manners 2 !

Stop by Stone Leaf Pottery and buy some local art.
I know, another chicken 🐣 post but this one has pottery too! I couldn't find a dirt bath big enough for the growing girls that would still fit in the brooder so I made one! Then took it out to clean the brooder and that's when the girls thought it would be a good time for a group bath 😒 so messy but also so damn cute!!!!! Swipe for an image of how happy Willow is when she finally got it to herself again, what the bath looks like, and the mess left behind. Also check out for a video of them bathing 🛁.
I might be very distracted by my chickens but I'm still making pots! Especially when ADHD kicks in. This happened because I was cleaning my wheel after class and needed to but my scrap in my bag of reclaim, I noticed the bag was a bit full and a good consistency so I wedged it all up and threw this large planter! Some sort of surface design will happen next Sunday, not exactly sure what yet, any thoughts?
I made the girls their own instagram! I made it while they were hanging out on my head and shoulders so I couldnt do much else. Follow them if you are interested in seeing them grow up or seeing some fun images and videos with chickens and pots!
Reposted from Sound up! Temporary feeder bin and home while the brooder get a full clean. The cleanliness lasted about 10 seconds once they found the dirt bath and kicked it everywhere. New bigger and better ceramic dirt bath coming tomorrow!!!
Meet my new ladies! They are about a week old, red and black star s*x link chicks. The first image is Velma, I still need names for the other 2. So far they like hanging out under the heater and eating a lot. Spencer isn't really sure what to think about them but likes watching them when they are out. They will live in my office until they are old enough to go outside.
Just got these two sweet pots out of the gas kiln and i couldn't resist a Sunday morning post! I think I'm finally getting the hang of this cone 6 stuff (but I still can't find a porcelain that's actually white in reduction 😥 any suggestions???)
Plus my new tulips where super pretty this morning!
Excuse the crappy picture but I'm so excited!!! We just bought our first house and this adorable house jar from is the first thing I bought for it!!! Sadly we don't move for another y weeks so back in the box it goes but i had to look at ot first and i love it! I will be using my new cup for my morning coffee tomorrow and my new wooden knife will go to the studio with me first the first class of 2022 on Sunday! Now I just have to decide where to put the sticker.
Don't worry, Spencer approved the box before I opened it!
One day I will make and attach a metal handle to the basket but for now it seems to be my designated flower hold before shows. All this to say the Holiday Pottery Sale with starting tomorrow! See the second image for all the details!
Website update!!! I now have a page for any shows and events I am doing (2 local sales in Dec!) and a page for the classes I teach. Check it out and feel free to send me a message if you see a typo ( I didn't know Dreamweaver has spell check until just now).
Happy Halloween!!! We are having a nice lazy end to the best holiday weekend of the year. A nice cup of tea in my new spooky mug and I finally got my new pumpkin jar out of the reduction kiln this morning. Plus it might snow later!!!!
So very excited! I finally got myself a bat system yesterday and gave it a test drive with this demo mug in class last night. These adorable spooky decals were up for grabs so I had to show my students how to use them. This little coffee mug is the first thing I have made for myself in a very very long time.
Happy Mugshot Monday! Last night I took my newest mug for a test drive and tried a new cider I picked up at Cider Days a few weeks ago.
I've been trying new clays, glazes, underglazes, and firings. This 18oz mug is laguna #16 clay with amaco underglazes, rocky mountain bmx slip, and a sweet studio glaze in the electric kiln.
Playing around with handle placement and glazes on these espresso pourer mugs. Would you rather have a lefty, righty or centered pourer? What's your favorite color? The green centered and purple lefty pours are available in my online shop now! (Link in bio). This rightly one has already been claimed, check out my previous post to see it in use!
Personally I love the lime green on the outside of the centered one, stay tuned for more new work lined with that color!
Finally think I'm getting close the the coffee cup I want. Thrown off the hump for a demo in my Sunday wheel class with a sandy white stoneware, reminds me how much I prefer smooth clay.
My plan for the night was to start the daunting tasking of organizing my bins of pots to make finding things and doing shows easier. Spencer seems to have other ideas....
First time throwing cone 6 frost. Worming on new cappuccino and coffee cups, I'm not sure about the handles yet.
Both of the studios where I teach use cone 6 for everything so I'm seeing how I like it. So far I don't hate it but we will see how these look fired. I'm going to try gas, electric, and soda firing this clay and another cone 6 porcelain.
My first harvest from my community garden plot! I tried to get a picture to show you that the zucchini is almost as long as Spencer's body but he wasn't into it.
Got all my jewelry piece out of the gallery kiln today! Working on getting them turned into earrings and necklaces tonight for the sale tomorrow! Check out my last post for how I made them.
Finished some glazing yesterday for the pottery sale this weekend! Super excited to see how these new jewelry pieces come out. I used the drawings of my pots I made for my laser cut earrings and turned them into 3D printed stamps. Stamping colored clay was so much fun I forgot to take a picture of the whole slab! Still some kinks to work out in the process, new iterations of the stamps will happen but I'm really happy with how these look so far. I will have these on earrings and necklaces this Saturday at the sale! Anything left over will go up on my website later.
