It’s important to protect your skin all year, but especially in these sunny months. We know many of our patients are concerned about the smoke lingering in the air from the Canadian wild fires. Adults and children, especially those with existing breathing issues, like asthma, are at greater risk of developing symptoms like chest tightness or pain, shortness of breath, coughing, burning of the nose throat or eyes and feeling lightheaded or dizzy.

While there are air quality warnings, follow these tips to keep yourself and your family safe:

Monitor the current air quality in your neighborhood and follow recommendations from the EPA: AirNow.gov

Stay indoors as much as possible and watch for signs or symptoms of the harmful effects of smoke inhalation.
