Lockport Chalk Walk

We have 7 artists doing some spooky art this Saturday at Lockport Main Street's Locktoberfest, Lockport, NY Come by and see the work in progress and enjoy the atmosphere and vendors. Last year was so fun! This is Julez Julez Withaz with her bride of Frankenstein on roofing paper last year.

In celebration of the Erie Canal Bicentennial in 2025, Lockport Main Street is seeking community artwork inspired by the Erie Canal and the city of Lockport 🎨 Artists of all ages are invited to submit paintings, drawings, and photography for display, celebrating our rich heritage and vibrant community.

The collected artwork will be showcased at several upcoming events, including an exhibition at the Historic Palace Theatre from September 20th to the 22nd, and a special showing at the Erie Canal Discovery Center on September 28th during Locktoberfest ✨ Join us in commemorating this significant milestone through creative expression!

Submissions are due by September 13th, 2024 ✅ Drop-off locations are the Historic Palace Theatre Lockport during box office hours (Monday to Saturday from 10am to 2pm) and Lockport Community Farmers Market at 69 Canal Street on Saturdays from 9am to 2pm. Hi! I’m April Radder or Rad Art Studio. I am an elementary art teacher, author and illustrator and chalk artist. I have been chalking for the past 9 years now and it is my favorite past time. Artists, if you want to pick up your shirt prior to the festival please note these two opportunities to do so:

We have shirts for our artists this year! Can’t wait to see them on our talented group 🧡 Lons & Leisure is the local Lockport business that put them together for us. I will post when they are in my hands. 🎉

We are accepting both Artist Sponsorships $250 and Title Sponsorships $1,000. Last year we had about 1,200 attendees and 22 artists at the 2023 Lockport Chalk Walk. This year we have 38 artists!!!

Our festival has vertical viewing (our five 6ft wide chalkboards) and new this year, 4 smaller roofing paper on easel artworks, which allow artists with physical limitations participate or try something new. We have 29 concrete spaces for our artists all around Steamworks Coffee on Canal Street.

We are striving to grow this event and support WAHI Studio (501c3 Nonprofit) in their mission for providing art education opportunities with a focus on mental health to the young and young at heart.

Our Experience Auction is looking for donations!
We are accepting artist sponsorships until July 1st as well.

We are building our experience auction prize list. We can't wait to hype our donors up!!!

The auction will be posted July 1st online. Entries will be accepted the day of the event with winners being pulled and announced by 3pm on July 20th.

All the funds raised in this event will help WAHI Studio INC. to continue to do this event, and others with Lockport Main Street like Locktoberfest, and to grow our free after school art club programs.

The Lockport Chalk Walk 2024! has been headline sponsored by Niagara Celtic and Niagara County. We have also received support from Cornerstone CFCU and Grigg Lewis Foundation, Inc so far!

We are just about full for chalk artist spaces! We have one remaining team space which is 8ftx8ft. That space MIGHT be broken into smaller individual spaces at a later date depending on interest with local artist late to the party. We did not have a budget to receive traveling artists this year. Email acceptances have all been sent. Check your spam and promotion folders. Thank you!
