Barkiture

The Jointer – The first step in milling wood to the desired thickness. But what does “milling” mean? It means taking the boards you bought from the lumberyard and making sure they are totally flat, the thickness is consistent and the sides are square to the rest of the board. Precision is key in woodworking. The jointer is a machine with blades that are housed within the bed and you run your board over the bed, but only on one side (the other side is for a different machine, the planer). There is also a “fence”, a perpendicular surface that is a guide, that allows you to run that very flat surface against and square one edge up. It may sound confusing but once you understand the process it is very simple. I love milling wood, it is very Zen to me, my hubby on the other hand, not so much. Everyone has their own thing.

Meet Fender!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He's a mellow, sweet senior dog with an easy-going, loving personality. He was rescued from a Downey shelter where he had been surrendered because his former owners were moving. He was a shelter favorite and was even approved to meet a troupe of Girl Scouts who he did great with. He walks well on leash and does well around calm dogs.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Fender is about 9-10 years old and he weighs 55lbs. He moves pretty slowly with arthritis and hip dysplasia - but is is being managed with pain medication and he still enjoys his short strolls. He enjoys getting human attention and taking naps and we would love nothing more than to see him adopted into a forever home where he can hang out, sleep, and get lots of love.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Fender is house-trained, crate-trained, neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The Bandsaw – such a great machine! ..but really, aren’t they all? The bandsaw is a machine that is perfect for making irregular shaped cuts, which is not to say you cannot make straight cuts but it won’t be the most precise. The blade has some flexibility to it, allowing for curved cuts and the narrower the blade the tighter cut you can make. It has a continuous blade that rides on an upper and lower wheel, cutting in a downward motion.

Odin is a vibrant 10yo who came from a shelter in Downey where he was surrendered with two other dogs because his owners were no longer able to take care of them.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
