At the USM Gulf Park campus in Long Beach today, we were privileged to witness the extraordinary talent of Vasti Jackson. This internationally acclaimed performer, composer, producer, recording artist, and actor took us on an unforgettable musical odyssey. From the very foundations of American music to the countless genres that have blossomed from it, including blues, gospel, country, and soul, all the way to rock & roll, jazz, funk, and hip hop, this music has become a universal language. Mississippi, with its musical legends like Robert Johnson and Jimmie Rodgers, truly encompasses the entire spectrum of global popular music. We had an absolutely fantastic time! Thank you for this incredible experience!
USM Gulf Park Campus had the incredible opportunity to be the location for a breakfast event with the Mayor of Long Beach, courtesy of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce. It was an absolute privilege to witness the inspiring transformations occurring in Long Beach.
The annual MS Geospatial Conference, hosted by the Mississippi Association for Spatial Technologies (MAST), was a true honor for us last week. MAST, being the largest organization of geospatial professionals in our region, deserves our utmost appreciation for the significant impact you make in our communities.

Gulf Park's history major, Micah Lynn, had a heartwarming reunion with his grandmothers who traveled all the way from Kentucky to visit him. As they strolled around the campus, Micah discovered that his grandma Cathy (Brandenburg) Noel (pictured on the right) was once a student on this same Campus when it was the Gulf Park College for Women. What is the EEZ?
Hear Alberto Costa Neves talk about hydrography and the EEZ.
EEZ stands for Exclusive Economic Zone. It is a concept defined by international law that extends a coastal state's jurisdiction of maritime boundaries. The EEZ typically extends 200 nautical miles (370 kilometers) from the country's coastline. USM's hydrographic programs prepare students for successful careers! https://www.usm.edu/gulfpark
