Gratitude
I'm grateful to be able to return to New Orleans because the last time I was there I almost died
That's when Critical Medicine became official. The pandemic was worldwide and it was the least I could leave behind. How close was I to death? I wasn't in the hospital but I could hardly walk and thought I would see the end soon
But miracles happen and well that's a whole story in itself
The Gratitude Tour isn't a marketing gimmick, this is the real deal

It’s surreal to skate pools w/ one of the pioneers of pool skating– was there when it all began, & he’s still ripping today.

The art hustling roller skating ninja
Skating and the arts have provided me opportunities to work with communities around the world. My passion combined with a MA from one of California’s first and most successful Exhibition Design programs, launched my career in unexpected directions. In undergraduate school I studied drawing and painting, becoming the first Native female to exhibit at the Women’s Museum of California for the 2010 inaugural year of Native American Heritage Month.
My thesis exhibition in 2011, RIDE, which showcased communities empowering themselves through mobility, became one of Grand Central Art Centers highest attended exhibitions. I organized, designed, programed the exhibition and was also the first curator in history to ride ramps in their own show. It wasn’t a comedic attempt for attention; in fact this event was the catalyst for the revival of roller skates in the skateparks around the world. This success resulted in an invitation to the Dak’Art Biennale of Contemporary African Art, in Dakar, Senegal, which made me the first in my department to do an exhibition for our program outside the country. I also raised funding to build the first portable skatepark in the entire country of Senegal.
My thesis paper, separate from the exhibition, focused on empowering First Nations though museum practices. If Native Americans obtain proper training in museum practices, this knowledge could be adapted to Tribal living and give an opportunity to handle artifacts, design exhibits, and preserve our own heritage.
As the Visual Director of Urban Canvas, an arts organization I established in 2006, I help underrepresented artists from around the world. I’ve worked with people like, 90 year old Jewish Ukrainian leather collagist, Mila Gokhman; Samantha Allfatt Sperry from Switzerland who masterfully illustrates in ink and colored pencil; the Oaxacan born painter Pavel Acevedo; Apache Skateboard founder and artist Douglas Miles; and many countless local Los Angeles and regional artists.
