On the last day of Pride 2023, I am reflecting and feeling grateful for the celebratory month I had with my q***r community. That said, this year’s Pride contained a unique flavor of disappointment, frustration, and sadness in the face of the renewed anti-LGBTQIA+ animosity and hatred that has manifested into a regressive cultural shift and numerous legislative measures.
And so, in an effort to have some small role in the movement of acceptance and love, I decided to address some of the anti-LGBTQIA+ arguments in my latest pod episode. Rather than meeting the anti-q***r stances with the same vitriol and hatred they are promoted with, I decided to try approaching these arguments with as much openness and kindness as I can muster at this time. Instead of fighting fire with fire, I am attempting to fight fire with water.
I put a lot of deep thought into this episode. I strove to offer my perspectives, share the facts, and make my cases with intentionality, care, and heart. I hope that my words are impactful in some way, shape, or form, even if you don’t immediately or fully agree with the stances I take.
