Where to find shoes

Many of you met me as the owner of On Your Mark or The Runners’ High - the specialty running stores I owned in Los Altos and Menlo Park. With the recent closing of A Runner’s Mind in Los Altos, you may be looking for a new resource for footwear. I can help.

For those looking for a local store to support, I recommend visiting Jim Gothers and the team at Fleet Feet Menlo Park. (Some of you may know this as the original location of The Runner’s High.) Sports Basement also carries a wide selection of quality footwear.

If you need more assistance, I can meet you at one of these locations for a footwear fitting appointment, either in conjunction with a gait analysis or evaluation, or as a stand alone service.

For the highest level of care and also convenience, I offer in-home appointments where we can discuss and evaluate your unique footwear needs and then I will provide you with a curated selection of footwear.

Footwear suggestions based on your needs are also a part of Evaluations, Gait Analysis, and Orthotic Fitting appointments.

When it comes to footwear, fit is more than just the size on the box. There are other factors to consider; the unique shape of your foot, any injuries you may be facing or trying to avoid, what you are using the shoes for, and your body’s mechanics. What’s trending or what has worked wonders for a friend, may not be the best for you. Together we can find the right shoes to fit your needs.

During an evaluation, we'll look into what is hurting and what muscles are involved. You'll get a better understanding of what is going on with your feet and a plan going forward of how to recover and preventative steps to keep you feeling good.

Gait Analysis

During a gait analysis, we'll look at the details of your feet and your walking or running mechanics. You'll receive a path for recovery plus drills to help you make positive adjustments in your mechanics to help prevent future discomforts and keep you active.

Great for student athletes!

Custom Insoles or Orthotics

If you have been prescribed orthotics by your health care provider or you would like to discuss if custom insoles would be appropriate for you, booking a Custom Insoles/ Orthotics Fitting is the place to start. Custom insoles and orthotics can be made for any type of footwear.

Love your orthotics but tired of moving them between shoes? Email me to order an extra pair.

If you prefer not to meet in person, Video Evaluations and Footwear Recommendations are also available.

It's been a minute

Evaluations

Not just for athletes!

Begin the season with an Evaluation to stay on track.
Whether you are training for a race or building up your fitness, now is a great time to schedule an evaluation to address any ongoing issues or stay ahead of the pitfalls that occur during training.

During an evaluation I will take a detailed look at the feet, gait and bio-mechanics, and how your current footwear is working for or against you. We will then develop a plan to prevent or treat any injuries or discomforts, and discuss best practices for foam rolling and other recovery tools. Custom insoles or orthotics, if necessary, can be made for sports-specific footwear, running shoes, and daily footwear.

Coaches- Team evaluations are available during your weekly practices or at Run Club meetings. Email Adam for more details.

Price Increases

Due to an increase in the production costs, the price for custom insoles and orthotics increased on October 10th, 2021. Any appointments booked before October 10th will get the current pricing.

After the positive response over the last year, I've decided to continue offering in-home appointments at least through the summer. I can see you in the comfort and convenience of your home or office.

Spring is in the Air

While we still have a few weeks before it's officially spring, the sun is shining and I am thankful for that.


It's been almost a year since I've seen clients in clinic and I am looking forward to being able to begin that again soon.

Following current CDC protocols, we can meet in the comfort of your back or front yard or other outdoor space. This gives room to stay safe and for you to walk and run during the evaluation.
