CLASSIC LOCATION! P*e Wee's house from P*E WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE. Whoever owns the place would have a hard time keeping it exactly as it was in the film, but the pastel colors and white picket fence make it look adorable.

The most frequent start time on the calendar for an L.A. Film Locations Tour is 10AM. Too soon for a stop at the bar? In this case, you can visit Ferdy's Bar from MEMENTO! It's on The East Valley Tour.

I've mentioned before that a great way to end your L.A. Film Locations Tour is at a restaurant so you can really soak up the place and here's one that's affordable! The Big Boy that was seen in Michael Mann's HEAT. This film shot all over Los Angeles and it was here in the valley that De Niro's gang met to recruit Dennis Haybert's character as their getaway driver.

You can see it on The East Valley Tour!

Paul here, your trusty Film Locations tour guide. Just a warning, if you go biking with me (second in from the left), count on stopping a lot...like we did in front of the Cunningham house from HAPPY DAYS!

Johnie’s Coffee Shop in Hollywood was a functioning restaurant from 1956 to 2000, now it's an L.A. Historic-Cultural Monument used mostly for filming. It’s appeared in MIRACLE MILE (below), VOLCANO, THE BIG LEBOWSKI, AMERICAN HISTORY X, CITY OF ANGELS, GONE IN 60 SECONDS, and RESERVOIR DOGS!

Good at Photoshop?

At The Movie Guys' L.A. Film Locations Tour, we get out of the car to take pics, and if you're like my friend Mike here, you can put yourself in the movie!

Points to the cities deep in the San Fernando Valley for not getting rid of the caterpillar in the park where they shot this classic scene in E.T. It's even being taken up with the government to name the park "E.T. Park"! I get it, it's part of history where kids helped an alien return home! You can see it on The West Valley Tour.

This location is visited a lot 'cause it's a great stop along the route to Griffith Observatory - The Griswold house from NATIONAL LAMPOON'S VACATION! A lot to say here - the house hasn't changed much outside of the color of the shutters, the early-'80s antenna on the next door roof is great, and here's another film where L.A. is filling in nicely for Chicago! With the number of other cities Los Angeles can pass for, L.A. itself may be one of the best actors in L.A.

The most popular spot on The West Side Tour has been in a ton of movies - The Santa Monica Pier! Featured in 2012, A NIGHT AT THE ROXBURY and THE STING, these two pics (top and bottom) are shots from FORREST GUMP and RUTHLESS PEOPLE. The tour always stops here longer than it should 'cause...it's fun!

Sure, it's a film locations tour, but there's plenty of TV on the tour as well, including the creepy house from MICHAEL JACKSON'S THRILLER. It's on a cool street that's one of only two places I can think of in L.A. where there are a TON of Victorian houses. And good news, it's still partially dilapidated to keep the horror vibe alive...! Right now, this location is on THE HORROR TOUR!!, but soon will be a regular part of The Hollywood Tour (but ask and we can add it to any tour you want!)

The guests for an upcoming tour have already told me in advance that they're LA LA LAND fans. This means - FUN TOUR! I mean, you'll only like that movie if you like love, art, movies, music and life. We're gonna check out a lot of locations from the modern classic, including this spot in Hollywood where Mia ditches her d***y boyfriend to meet Seb at the movies.

Damn straight I bring the props! When we go to the intersection from PULP FICTION where Ving Rhames catches Bruce Willis skipping town, you'll get the donut box and coffee to go FULL Marsellus Wallace.

The Rialto Theater in Pasadena is home to all manner of filming locations - LA LA LAND, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST. PART 4: THE DREAM MASTER, THE PLAYER, KENTUCKY FRIED MOVIE and in the film pictured below - The Rialto was the premiere theater for STAB, the film-within-a-film in SCREAM 2. See it on The East Side Tour!

Wanna see where Elliott took flight in E.T.? It's in the West Valley, which can make for a great tour that could also include Daniel LaRusso's apartment building, the donut shop from BOOGIE NIGHTS, the PULP FICTION pawn shop and more!

Wanna go to Pawnee, Indiana? City Hall from PARKS AND RECREATION is on The East Side Tour. A lot of people see "Hollywood" and book The Hollywood Tour, but don't discount L.A.'s east side. In Pasadena and the surrounding area, you can hit spots from BACK TO THE FUTURE, HALLOWEEN, FATHER OF THE BRIDE, P*E WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE and some of the other biggest films of all time!

Did you make it to Lipton's this last holiday season? Did Seb play the set list? If you go there now, he's probably been fired, but you CAN go there! The restaurant that played Lipton's is in Burbank and is part of the East Valley Tour. Book a tour to see it and other great East Valley sights from LA LA LAND, too!

Pig Burgers from BETTER OFF DEAD has seen better days - but it's still standing! You can see it, along with Lane Myer's house and Ricky's house, on The East Valley Tour, and it's the closest thing we have to locations from a Christmas movie. And yes, I will fight anyone who says BETTER OFF DEAD isn't a Christmas movie!

Have a great holiday and don't forget the $50 off gift card sale at the website runs until Monday!

You got a week! Right now thru Christmas you can purchase a $350 Holiday Gift Card for $300. Give it as a gift, blow it on yourself, we won't judge, but for Odin's sake get out of the house and see where your favorite movies were filmed on your own personal, private tour!

Paul Thomas Anderson fans! You KNOW he loves shooting in the San Fernando Valley. Pick The West Valley Tour and you can visit this beauty - Barry's office from PUNCH DRUNK LOVE! The BOOGIE NIGHTS donut shop is also over this way, plus locations from MAGNOLIA and more.

People often ask what the most popular filming location is on the various tours I give. The answer is Nakatomi Plaza. Griffith Observatory is popular as well, but is also visited by people not on a film locations tour. But for straight-up film spot giddiness - you gotta see Nakatomi Plaza, and there's no better time than the holidays! Come out to the coast. We’ll get together. Have a few laughs…

On a tour last Sunday, I took this pic of the legendary "Witch House" in Beverly Hills and it was still decked out in Halloween decor, with a giant witch, ravens in the trees and pumpkins everywhere. Not sure how much longer it'll be like that, but if you wanna check it out, this classic L.A. location from CLUELESS is on The Hollywood Tour!

A good suggestion for taking a Movie Guys' L.A. Film Locations Tour is to pick a bunch of places you want to go, but make the last place you visit a restaurant so you can relax into that space at the end of your adventure.
One place for that on The Hollywood Tour is JAR, where Emma Stone eats with her dingbat boyfriend before bolting to the movies with Seb in LA LA LAND. Your pro tip of the day - get the spectacular butterscotch pudding. Not enough foods have butterscotch!

10/06/2023

If you like the classic '80s comedy SAY ANYTHING..., you can get a two-fer of locations on The East Valley Tour. One of our first posts here was the spot that featured the famous boom box/"In Your Eyes" scene. Well, the 7-11 where Lloyd kicks the glass out of Diane Court's way (WINNING HER HEART!) is right across the street!

Here's another location from The West Side Tour. If you want a great view of the beach, this is it, PLUS, you can put yourself in the uncomfortable situation of D-FENS in the 1993 film FALLING DOWN!

Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills has been the home to an UNREAL number of film and TV shoots.

A wildly incomplete list includes TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES (2014), THE MUPPETS, THE SOCIAL NETWORK, SPIDER-MAN, THERE WILL BE BLOOD (in the mansion's bowling alley), THE HOLIDAY, THE PRESTIGE, ROCK STAR, AMERICA'S SWEETHEARTS, RULES OF ENGAGEMENT, SimONE, WHAT WOMEN WANT, RUSH HOUR, AIR FORCE ONE, THE PHANTOM, NIXON, INDECENT PROPOSAL, THE BODYGUARD, DEATH BECOMES HER, THE FABULOUS BAKER BOYS, GHOSTBUSTERS II, THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK, STRIPES, and more.

This pic is a VFX'd up establishing shot from STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS and while many of the films above used interiors, the public gardens and grounds includes film shoots like NATIONAL TREASURE: BOOK OF SECRETS, BATMAN & ROBIN, ALL OF ME and more.

After exploring what's possible without paying a fee to get inside, it's worth a stop. If you wanna add it to a tour, say so, but soon it'll be amongst the films to pick officially for The Hollywood Tour!

There's so much BACK TO THE FUTURE in Los Angeles, I'm thinking of a JUST BTTF tour! In the meantime, you can find locations from this legendary film in the East Valley and East Side Tours!

This is John Marshall High School in Los Feliz, probably the most filmed high school in the country. A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST., PRETTY IN PINK, BACHELOR PARTY, CAN'T HARDLY WAIT and they shot the carnival sequence from GREASE on the football field. You can check it out on The Hollywood Tour!..oh, and I should explain. Did you know you can also rent an ECTO-1 and Ghostbusters party with The Movie Guys? Worlds colliding here. It's all at TheMovieGuys.net!
