Yesterday I had realized how long I have not heard my mother’s laughter. It’s contagious and it brings so much if my inner happy little girl to contentment. Sometimes I watch my mother laughing and I think of my own. And I realize that to be consciously present with those moments of joy, even with my own laughter, makes moments that seem trivial, very expansive. It reminds me of the heart that I carry and have the opportunity to tap into all my senses the moment it is happening. What does it smell like? What does it look like? What does it taste like? What does it sound like? It smelled like French fries, it looked like someone I look up to, it tasted like aperol spritz and sounded like home.
