For the past two months we’ve been sawing, plastering, dry heaving, cussing and feeling like kings in the end. I’ve been telling myself for years that custom is not how you make coin in this trade. But the truth is is that it is! I’ve become so good at what I do because the custom stuff throws everything at you in order to get it done…right. That’s the key. Don’t show up with bullsh*t work you’re having to explain. Provided your clients give you space and don’t make changes in the process 🤨. Custom work has informed so much of my whyrHymer line and I’m grateful for the opportunities to have honed my craft. After installation the client asked for the his desk to be a bit higher and in need of a hole for cords. There’s only so much time in the video to try and sound cool and tell my WME story. But here, I have my words. Since I met Ari Greenberg @harrykalaskid he’s been a champion when I’ve asked and I mean the man delivers. I hope I’ve returned the respect and energy he’s given me. As I say in the piece, agents get the worst parts in film and tv generally and they probably work the hardest in real life to give their clients the best situations. Facts. I’ve been in enough of these folks offices for long enough to hear some juicy conversations and not one of them was ever cutthroat, rude or demeaning. Maybe I caught them all on good days or they were so intimidated by me that I scared them straight 😏. This build was for Marc Korman and was all set to be installed the week of Covid and we’ve finally been allowed to bring it to life. With 3 more in the works I’m on a mission it seems. All in all, that simple two pieces of walnut plywood I had in the corner of our showroom turned into all of this. You truly never know what the smallest most random things will eventually lead to if you embrace the journey.
