Happy Father’s Day to this stud ! Things I have learned watching you parent:
✌🏽 the more PATIENCE you have, the better for all (he has infinite amounts of patience, or at least
🌳creating a CALM and relaxing environment (yep! Make it a spa, ya’ll!) complete with scented candles, nature scene drone visuals and spa music has a huge impact on the kid’s behavior
⏰ sometimes staying on a strict SCHEDULE isn’t what is best for children
🥸most intense situations can be diffused with HUMOR 📸 credit
California has been straight up psychedelic with the flora, ya’ll! Makes the rain (kinda) worth it. What are your favorite flowers right now?
The past few months have been a wild ride! Hawaii is such a special place on the planet where you can hear your own thoughts and listen to the stars and feel the ocean. We met for a team retreat in March at the where Chris and I could reflect on what we had accomplished with in the past 5 years and what ignited our fire to propel the next 5. We are innovators and creators at heart and are excited for our next journey! I’ll be posting here more often on family, food, and general “leaning into life” as a modern working household.
How are we feeling about carrots and beets?! I love to eat raw carrots and I just like to use beets for a color pop. This is a braised boneless short rib. I purée roasted beets and then separately confit and then purée carrots. It’s so much more colorful than your standard potato purée under short ribs (although that’s damn good too). And together they make an eye popping flavor bomb of an accompaniment to the beeeeeef. Garnish is garlic flowers that were urban foraged locally in Pasadena. What are you going to make for NY dinner?!
I hope wherever you are, whatever you’re doing and whomever you’re with that your day is filled with magic and hope. And if it doesn’t feel so magical, try and find joy in the littlest thing and it will surely elevate your spirits. Lots of Warm Hugs, Pace
Yep, still over here feeling all kinds of decadent! Kumamoto oysters 🦪 with a side of classic mignonette, please and thank you! I serve mine on a bed of ice cream salt, but crushed ice is traditional. Just make sure you have a serving platter with edges to keep the melting ice 🧊 from spilling.
Are you feeling fancy? I love getting decadent this time of year! Good caviar doesn’t have to break the bank. You can get a decent oz from for about $30. Use delicately and it can feed a good sized group when you use it as a garnish on some apps. I like to put it on potato pancakes with crème fraiche or blinis or toast points with a shot of cold vodka or mmmm deviled eggs! What’s your favorite way to eat caviar? 📸

Pears! These beauties are in full swing right now! So juicy and succulent!! Have you ever tried to roast them for a salad? It’s divine. Use Bosc pears that are a tad firmer. 🍐 preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut the pears in half and remove the seeds and tough core part with a pairing knife. Drizzle honey all over them and toss with generous thyme sprigs. Roast for about 20 minutes or until soft. Cool and add to your sale. I recommend an arugula, balsamic vinaigrette, goat or blue cheese combo!
Two things to improve most any chocolate chip cookie recipe: slightly underbake them and garnish with sea salt! Did you know salt helps to bring out the other flavors of any dish/dessert? It’s all part of the balancing act of making delicious food. What’s your favorite cookie? Picture of our Salted Miso Chocolate Chip Cookie at by
