LA County voters - it is that time again...

When you see judicial candidates on the ballot, it can be hard to know how to vote—or even whether to vote. I can confirm how important it is to have qualified judges, as can all of my clients.

The Women and Girl's Project of Public Counsel have honored Phil and Brian for their work representing a client litigating her claims for discrimination and due process violations against her former Ph.D. program.

The University of Southern California announced on Thursday that it would pay more than $1.1 billion to the former patients of a campus gynecologist accused of preying s*xually on hundreds of patients. The staggering sum sets a record for collegiate s*x abuse payouts, compensating a generation of young U.S.C. women, and is an abject admission that the university failed its female students over many years.

“The behavior that was discovered shocks the conscience of the university to its core,” Rick Caruso, chair of the university’s board of trustees, said in a statement. “Our institution fell short by not doing everything it could to protect those who matter most — our students, and I am sorry for the pain this caused the very people we were obligated to protect.”

U.S.C. Agrees to Pay $1.1 Billion to Patients of Gynecologist Accused of Abuse The staggering sum — a combination of three sets of settlements with patients of Dr. George Tyndall — sets a record for collegiate s*x abuse payouts.

USC has agreed to pay more than $1.1 billion to former patients of campus gynecologist George Tyndall, the largest s*x abuse payout in higher education history. The sheer number of potential victims, some 17,000 women treated by Tyndall over three decades, made a massive settlement inevitable.

Rick Caruso, the billionaire developer who was elected as Chair of the USC Board of Trustees shortly after the Tyndall scandal broke, acknowledged institutional failures in a letter to the community that described the settlement as “the end of a painful and ugly chapter in the history of our university. Our institution fell short by not doing everything it could to protect those who matter to us most — our students,” Caruso wrote.
