At the Louisville Pride Foundation, pride in our community is at the heart of everything we do, and this includes concern for the health, welfare and safety of our Louisville family. Thus, with sadness and sincere apologies, our 2021 Louisville Pride Festival is cancelled. We cannot ignore the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the Louisville area and the CDC and Kentucky Department for Public Health’s recommendations to avoid large gatherings.
We would like to thank our team and partners for the hard work that they have put into planning the 2021 Louisville Pride Festival. We would also like to thank the donors and sponsors that make our work possible. It was a difficult decision, but we cannot risk this year’s Louisville Pride Festival contributing to the community spread of the Delta variant of COVID-19.
Each of us can help our community emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic and protect ourselves and others from COVID-19 by getting a COVID-19 vaccine, wearing a mask, and social distancing. Text your zip code to GETVAX - 438829 to receive three vaccine locations near you. Text VACUNA - 822862 for Spanish. For evidence-based information on COVID-19, please visit https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html
We will continue our work to unite our community through collaboration, empowerment, and celebration. Please visit our website or follow us on social media for up to date information on other events, programs, and activities.

Our doula crush this week is Xian Brooks. Xian is a full-time master's nursing student, studying to be a certified nurse midwife. He is the owner of The Dandy Doula Birthing Services, LLC . After seeing the limited amount of birth workers capable of wholly honoring his Black Trans body, he became a birth doula to center support for folks with all bodies, specifically Black, Brown, trans, disabled, gender non-conforming, and/or fat bodies. He lives in Louisville, KY with his partner and dogs and cats.

About the instructor: I'm Ash Dasuqi, a trans nonbinary Palestinian midwife and birth parent who has attended around 150 births and been teaching childbirth classes for a year and a half. I care about reproductive sovereignty, helping people to birth with integrity, dignity and to be more connected to their babies and support network, and I focus on improving the unacceptable birth outcome disparities between white folks and folks of color in the so called USA, as well as the high rates of inappropriate interventions in the US hospital system (I do this through education and homebirth). I do NOT currently have a homebirth practice, and I assistant midwife in the homebirth setting very part time. Touch base with any questions! DM/email [email protected].
