Chelsea Wanczyk at EXP
After living in multiple locations, Chelsea has moved back to Michigan where family and HOME is. COMMUNICATOIN IS KEY.
As a United States Air Force spouse, I've had the experience of multiple moves to different locations and understand the meaning of finding HOME. I am determined to help individuals and their families find the next place for them to rest easy at night. I enjoy being there for my clients and helping them feel comfortable and confident during their buying and/or selling process. I put myself in your
To all the mom's out there - you are crushing this thing!!!!!
My last little tip for new homeowners is to ENJOY YOUR NEW HOME!!! Settle in and enjoy your new space whether it's a turn key home or it needs your TLC. This is your space to wear your birthday suit, invite others over, veg out, or whatever your jam is.
Take it all in. Owning a home is a big deal - CONGRATULATIONS!
Feeling lonely or like you don't have a community can be challenging.
New homeowner tip # 17 is for someone who may be moving to a new town/city. Find your local Facebook community group to look for events going on to help branch out and make new friends. Or find a local group or association within an interest you have to help branch out.
#18 is for anyone and that's get to know your neighbors & community. Having these contacts and network is great if anything ever happens or you need a favor and vice versa. Having great neighbors goes far for both sides! :)
New homeowner tip 16: Plan for unexpected expenses. Especially when moving, different expenses for things you may not think of will happen. It could be helpful to reach out to other homeowner and ask what things they have ran into to get a better idea of what you could possibly face.
Tip #15 - Be prepared by keeping an emergency kit with essentials like flashlights and first aid supplies. If you're not sure what to include, google it! Amazon also has some great option for pre-built kits.
if you're a home owner make sure investing in energy efficient upgrades is something you're tackling. Go to your utility provider's websites. They have plenty of tips to help save money on energy usage. Many of them will even come out to your house and do a free consultation to help identify energy "suckers" to improve your home efficiency.
Happy Easter!
New homeowner tips
11: just like those regular smoke detector checks - replace air filters regularly. Write down the date or simply put a reminder in your phone.
12: Learn how to maintain appliances. This one will help save you some mooollaaaa with simple up keep once a month
13: Keep a tool kit handy for small repairs. Youtube can teach you anything and having basic tools at home can help you fix things around the house as they come (use your discretion lol)
New homeowner tips #9: keep those bushes and trees trimmed up! Maintaining vegetation like tress and bushes helps decrease the chances of wind breaking a branch off and it hitting the house as well as maintains curb appeal
New homeowner tip #8: remember to make way for water to flow through the gutters. When leaves and other debris fill up your gutters it forces water to overflow and continually lets the water hit the ground outside of the house wearing down the grading around the home which is protection to keep water OUTSIDE of the foundation.
New homeowner tip #7: on the theme of confidence in knowing how your home works - learn how to shut off gas and electricity in case of emergencies.
New homeowner tip #6: put regular checks of your smoke detector and carbon monoxide detectors on your calendar. Simple trick is to put it in your phone calendar with a reminder/alarm or whatever calendar app you use. you can simply put it as a recurring event every 6 months.
New homeowner tip #5: know how to plan for emergencies - like when you need to shut off the water! you never know when plumbing may have mishaps - knowing how to use the main water shut off will give you more confidence and help calm stress in these situations.
New homeowner tip #4: think about installing a security system or upgrading the existing locks

One woman who has recently blown my mind in how I think lately has been Glennon Doyle , who's book "Untamed" is definitely worth reading.
Comment with a book, woman, or moment from a person who has changed your life in the comments. You never know what story can help another.
Make your transition to your new home as smooth as possible by being prepared and knowing what to do. This list is a great place to start! You can also create a home management binder. You'll use this to store important documents on your house, like your deed, insurance, home warranty, proof of inspection, mortgage billing info, and more. Another tip for a smooth transition is working with an expert agent, ya know, like me. 😉

"Live in your space 12-18 months before tackling big renovations such as additions or knocking down walls. What you initially think you want to do may change after you’ve lived there for a while." — Fran Carpentier
There are exceptions; if something needs to be repaired/updated to make a home liveable, don't wait. But when it comes to making a house your ideal home, it is a good idea to wait and be confident of significant changes.
