Micah’s Journey
Micah’s Journey will take you through the ups and downs of kidney transplantation.
Hi everyone!!!
Life has been life-ing for us. Micah continues to make his post clinic appts. We just learned that on his recent clinic visit from last week he tested positive for HLA II antibodies. In layman’s terms his body’s immune system has dropped to the point where the body now recognizes there is something new. That’s not a good thing 😳
When a transplant recipient receives a new organ their bodies/immune system has to be up enough so that body is “fooled” by the new organ as it is foreign. In Micah’s case his system now knows there is something new and don’t like it.
The next steps are for Micah to have infusions to build his system back up. It will not be long term which is a good thing. We know we have God on our side and He will prevail always.
Please continue to pray for Micah and provide encouragement as this is another obstacle he will conquer!!!
Love y’all ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This day (every day really) we all should be praising and rejoicing Him. Happy Resurrection Sunday to everyone who follows Micah’s Journey. We haven’t post in a minute just know that life has been “life-ing” for Micah.
Micah continues to do well. His appointments are now monthly, so not as much traveling to Atlanta as we did immediately post transplant. There are some side effects he has experience since being on his lifetime meds (started at 15 now only taking 3). Micah can be very irritable and moody and that’s from the prednisone 😳. We continue to adjust to his moods and behaviors but it is hard at times. But we rather deal with that than still traveling for dialysis and looking for a donor.
We all can’t thank you enough for the continued love and support while Micah continues to thrive. Continue to love on your family and cherish each day 😍
Love y’all!!!
Hope everyone will have a great day and week ahead. Micah continues to thrive and doing well. Be grateful and tell someone you love them ❤️
Seven months in everyone and Micah continues to do well and gaining energy…we continue to be blessed and thankful for this gift of life

COTA for Micahs Journey Micah is a 17-year-old reserved, but funny, and smart teenager who loves boxing and TikTok. He loves to be around family and friends, but he also loves to be in his room relaxing or playing on his PS4. Micah has been a warrior since birth (born early, learning disability, and muscle weakness) but he....

This holiday means a bit more to our family as we’re celebrating “LIFE”!!! The holiday season is more meaningful as Micah is able to celebrate and being so thankful for the blessings bestowed upon him.
Micah continues to do well. There have been ups and downs…more ups than downs. But he continues to defy the odds and persevere. Micah continues roll with the punches on a daily basis.
On behalf of Micah…our family would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and continued blessings. Be safe, love on your family, take care of each other!!!
😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!
We are forever grateful for the blessings bestowed upon us. Micah thanks everyone who have called and came by to check on him through this journey.
Thank you all again 😍
Another praise moment…
Its been over 4 months since Micah received his life saving kidney. Things continue to go well. Micah is down to taking only 5 different meds (he started with 13 😳). Clinic visits are reduced as well to every other week. Micah’s kidney levels continue to go down and level out. Energy levels have improved although he’s the typical teen wanting to lay in the bed all the time.
Doctors have release Micah this month to resume “regular” activities. Micah has return to the classroom. He has also went to a football game a couple of weeks ago and seen many of his friends and classmates happy to see him again. He is slowly getting back but he was so happy to be OUTSIDE 🤣
We are too impressed and blessed beyond measures. Next up for Micah is to have his 6 months biopsy in January 2024 to make sure the kidney is not at risk of possible rejection. We thank you so much for all your prayers and checkins. They continue to be a saving grace for us!!!
Love y’all 😍
This is a good pic of Micah and his Dad while he recovered from the transplant this summer. Today we are so blessed beyond measures. This date Micah has made it to a major milestone…today is his 18th birthday!!!
Thank you Lord continue to bring your blessings!!!
Time flies when you are embracing life and what the Lord has blessed us with!!!
Micah continues to do well and is celebrating 3 months post transplant 😍. He’s on the lowest dosage of anti rejection medications (3 he will be taking lifetime). Clinic visits have reduced and now 🥁🥁🥁 Micah can resume “normal” activities like going to games, church, school, and other events. He’s so excited to be OUTSIDE 🤣.
Again, we’re are thankful for this gift of life and Micah has even reflected on what this means for him now. He still has a road ahead of him but he knows he has his family and the Lord who will carry him through. We will continue to thank everyone who has called, prayed, visited, and helped us in ensuring Micah will be ok.
And he’s doing more than “OK”!!!
Celebrating 3 months post transplant

Celebrating 2 months post transplant 💚💚💚💚💚

Sorry we haven’t posted in a minute…we’re a busy, active family 🤷🏽♀️☺️
Anyway…today marks 2 months Post transplant for Micah, and a lot has changed. He is not on as many meds as he was in the beginning. Which that is a good thing. His clinic visits have now reduced from twice a week to now only weekly visits (that’ll be good for our vehicle). And Micah is able to move around more venturing out (walks in the neighborhood, going to the convenient store). He cannot attend big crowded groups like church yet but in due time cause he is wanting to go. Micah is gaining weight and having more energy which that is a huge plus for his health in the long term.
We are so blessed in Micah being able to have the transplant in having a normal as possible life. Mom and Dad are energy-drained but we still making it through for Micah. We want to continue to thank everyone again for the continued calls, love, and support checking in on Micah. He definitely sees the love and support 💗.
But it doesn’t stop as there are so many children and adults are in need of transplant, whether it is kidney, heart, or any other organ. We ask for each of you to ensure you take doctor appointments seriously. If you know of anyone in your family or circle of friends in need of a organ donation, find out what you can do to help. It doesn’t hurt to at least try. We know that someone unfortunately passed away in order for Micah to receive the gift of life, and we hope soon we can reach out to the family to give our thanks.
Take the time for you…accept that challenge…give and love from your heart…reach out make sure family and friends are OK 💗
Love y’all!!!!
Hi everyone
Just giving another update regarding Micah. He continues to do well post transplant. On yesterday, he had his outpatient procedure to remove the stent on the new kidney. Everything went well. Micah continues to have weekly clinic visits to ensure the kidney is doing well and there are no signs of rejection.
Micah is a young man of few words but he is so appreciative of all the support given. We continue to take things day by day. There’s still a long road ahead of us but we’re know the Lord is making a way.
Thanks again for all the prayers, calls, and all in between. We love you all 🥰
