Not every market is sunshine and rainbows. 75% of the time last night it was raining and sales were low. This is the life of an artist, and entreprener. Being in this industry for majority of my life I understand that it will be ok.

I look at these types of shows with 2 thoughts:
1) I have more product for my next show, which will allow me to not stress as much at the last minute.
2) Understand that you can’t have the “highs” without the “lows”. Not every show are you going to have sales that beat the last and it’s the truth.

Nevertheless, thank you to those who came out and stopped by for a chat! It’s amazing to see friends and family come out in rainy conditions to support the things I do.

Stay tuned! I will be starting a newsletter for SJWHandmade to directly reach those who would like to stay updated with my business outside of the “socials”.

My fall show schedule is coming together very quickly! And it looks like it may be a quick one! I am excited to officially say that Fall Gallery Night will be my first event in November.

Stay tuned for my fall/winter event list for SJWHandmade. I hope to release it in the next week or so.

Fall Gallery Night is one month away!

A long-time Madison tradition, Gallery Night is a chance to explore the city and connect with the community of local artists. Whether you're looking to purchase a new piece for your collection, or just want to appreciate the beauty of art, Gallery Night is the perfect opportunity to do so. On Friday, November 3 over 50 venues throughout Madison will open their doors to invite the public in to see new exhibitions, shop for original artwork, watch artists' demonstrations, and more.

View the list of participating venues to plan your outing at www.mmoca.org/event/gallery-night/.

Gallery Night is a project of MMoCA.

I don’t know if many of you are aware, but for the past few months I have been the marketing chairperson for Wisconsin Craft. So I am very excited to share that I was selected to participate in their 2023 Wisconsin Craft Biennial Exhibition located at the Center for the Visual Arts, Wausau WI! If I have any friends in the area be sure to check it out.

I will be at the 2023 WI Biennial Exhibition: Opening Celebration next Friday from 5-7pm if you would like to chat with me in-person!

We hope you will plan to visit Wausau, WI at the for the Visual Arts to explore our WI Craft Member Biennial Exhibition: Regeneration!

Exhibition Runs: March 24th - May 27, 2023
Opening Celebration: March 31, 5 - 7 pm.

View the work of 58 of our members from across the state and region. Pieces on exhibit include sculpture, ceramics, fiber, jewelry, wood, metal, glass, mixed media, photography, printmaking and painting.

The theme of “Regeneration” was chosen to highlight the regeneration of the oldest arts organization in the state as WI Craft. Additionally, the changes in our members’ personal and professional lives over the last several years have led to renewed sense of purpose and/or new directions in many of their individual art practices. Artists are encouraged to submit artwork that reflects ways in which they have regenerated their work or practices since our last Biennial in 2020.

About The Center for the Visual Arts:
The Center for the Visual Arts (CVA) is one of the leading cultural institutions in Central Wisconsin, with four professional gallery spaces featuring eighteen exhibits annually, a reputable school of art, and a juried gallery shop. The CVA was founded and incorporated in 1982 by a group of community members and artists who wanted to promote creativity and enhance the education and appreciation of the visual arts in Wausau.

I know my timing is a little late, but I guess I could say Happy Lunar New Year! All of my wool is packed up, and I have a few projects to finish for my next year. Otherwise, I will be switching over to SJWHomemade working on dog treats, market bags, and cat nip cat toys.

With a busy summer season ahead, I am doing my best to not accept custom orders. You are still welcome to make purchases from my current inventory. Just message me and I can send you pictures. ☺️

Thanks to all who made 2022 a successful small business season. I can’t wait to see what 2023 brings!
