Griffel Acres Mousery
A small hobby mousery located in Dane county Wisconsin
Closed for adoptions
I'm really excited about the progress I'm making! I feel I am still on track to open adoptions again by Feburary.
I've been making progress with temperments! I'm getting more than one keeper per litter. I hope to open for adoptions early in the new year. I have 3 females from this litter that I hope can help build my pet line. The females from my last post I decided to keep. I have split my lines into feeder breeding as well. They are okay with me but I am not sure they would be good to adopt out.
Here's some good pictures of my newest babies. My lightbox hasn't seen use in a while!
The solid brindle is male and might be available in a couple of weeks. The other three are females I will be keeping in hopes of my pet line.
Some more possible keepers ❤
So far I have 3 good ones from my first litter with my new mice. They are 4 weeks old and still have some growing to do! The brindle girls are for sure keepers, the black pied boy is being kept to grow out and see how he does.
I can see why people love brindles!
These beans are my first gen reboot and will not be available. I hope to open for adoptions again in January or Feburary if I can get more consistent good temperments.
Two good babies from this litter!
I got a new boy to pair with my new girls. He seems to be settling in well. Hopefully this I the break that I need to get back to some good temperments.
Meet Beckett 🐀
Beans are incoming! I will be messaging waitlisters once babies are 3-4 weeks so I can judge temperments before making any commitments.
Howdy everyone!
I think my name has been getting passed around in the mousey groups recently. I have recieved four inquiries this week alone. Today I am going to go through my messages and write out the waitlist. I have never had this much interest at one time. There are two people who have been waiting for a very long time, so they will get first pick. As far as the other people, I won't be able to get to everyone with this upcoming litter. With my new stock, I will be breeding more frequently than I did in the past, so the wait shouldn't be as long. I appreciate your patience but will be understanding if you choose not to wait. Feel free to reach out if you would like some other breeder recommendations.
Hope you all have a good week. I will keep this page updated with baby news and availability!
Here's the S'mores Trio, from Mousin' Haus in Milwaukee!
In order:
Marsha Marshmallow
Grammie Graham Cracker
Hershey Chocolate
These last couple weeks with them have been wonderful and I am finding passion for my mice again. Marsha is the most outgoing so I will be breeding her first. She's been paired with Raphael.
Raphael recovered from his itchies. I figured out that treating him with girl smell bedding keeps him happy and not compulsively scratching himself.
Thank you for the patience from my couple of people who have been waiting for babies from me. I'm sorry this page has been quiet for so long. This past winter was some really hard times. Spring is here and I'm excited for a new future at Griffel Acres.
The satin litter is growing up fast. Temperment is still yet to be seen.
I have decided to start over with some new stock. Get ready to meet the new S'mores Trio
For how big momma got, I'm surprised there was only 6. But they are all fat and growing fast. They've already doubled in size at 3 days old
C'mon Dixie, free the beans!
Sorry it has been quiet lately. I've been through a lot. Late last year, all 3 of my favorite girls died in short time from each other. I suffered a lot more grief than I anticipated. I knew when I got into mouse breeding that I would have frequent deaths because even the best ones don't live very long. I think it just hurt extra bad because it seemed to happen all at once. On top of that, the seasonal depression was kicking in, which didn't help. I had a little break from breeding because it took everything to even give basic care to rest of the mice, let alone bond and feel emotionally connected to them. . A little part of me contemplated taking a longer break but I can't bring myself to deprive future me of the joys of breeding. So I'm still carrying on, letting my heart heal and hoping I'll find another mouse to be my best buddy.
Pear came out to help stash food. She's the most hidey of my white feets. It was nice to see her out. She couldn't resist the bread treat!
Meet Maya and Misty! A couple weeks ago I got this adorable pair of agouti sisters from The Run-Run Mouse (who I also got Eddie from). They are still a bit young yet but they will have their first litters in January.
I really love their big ears and stubby noses. I can't wait to see what color babies I get. Agouti is a new color to me so I've got some genetics studying to do!
Nuggets!
Eyes opened today!
Sharing a snack with the girls!
These are my personal pets permanent residents.
Greta, Peanut, and Mocha
❤🐀❤
RIP to Selma 😭
She was the first baby I ever bred. She will greatly be missed
Seven is her lucky number! Another healthy litter from Pepper. Mostly black eyes this time ❤
Coming soon!
Golden boy Raphael is such a stunner! He's matured into a happy little lad and I love him so much. He has been paired today back to Pepper. I'm sure they will make some gorgeous babies
😍🐀🐀🐀
All the fancy babies have gone to their homes. I have kept the satin fawn buck to be my new breeding buck. I did not keep either of the females so I will be pairing the same mom again but this time to the fawn buck.
The baby white feets are growing up as well.
All the girls are back together as a big group. Here's Leftie and Peach together. Pear likes to hide so I rarely see her out. Dot is the new baby. I can tell her for now since she's smaller but she's already turning brown so it won't be long until she looks the same as the others. 🤣
The last batch of good babies ❤
I am so pleased with how he's growing up. It's looking like he will be a keeper!
Two and a half weeks old. Thoroughly in the hopper phase. A bunch of jumpy little critters
Baby white feets!
I love this age when their curls start coming in. My curly little nuggets
Baby color reveal!
My dream when I brought in satin was to breed a satin yellow. I finally did and he is everything I hoped for! He is absolutely gorgeous, my shiny gold nugget 😍😍
Some beautiful chunky beans!
Not even a week old and already CHONK
This litter is mostly males. Males can be great to have if you only want one mouse. While they are typically a little less outgoing than females, mine are still very friendly.
