Short walk today so we made it a fun one on the lake! If you ever want to test out how much your dog is pulling you on your walks, try it on ice & find out quick😁 One false move & we are all going down babes😆 For that reason alone, we spent most of our time indoors before this ice walk. Reaching calm before & after coats & leashes were on. I woke up this morning feeling profound sadness. The kind that comes from losing a loved one. It just was there, unmoving, in the pit of my stomach. I knew today was going to be emotionally challenging & I assumed that meant the dogs were going to challenge me or see me as weak for feeling sad. The truth is, had I allowed my sadness to consume me, they would’ve. This time I treated myself differently while I was “in my feelings”. I ate breakfast, which I would’ve skipped, I drank some water, I really tried to slow myself down & be tender to meeee. I agreed with myself that it’s best to keep my mouth shut today & just walk. I am happy to report that Nature(Dogs) doesn’t see me or you as weak for feeling sad, maybe it even respects me more because I chose to sit with my sadness & basically welcome it like “Fine, Bitch take a seat I guess”😆 Eternally grateful to Birdie & every dog I have ever worked with for all the lessons I’m still learning from them. Today showed me a lot of things & the main one is that you can still be respected when you are sad. I came over for the honey but stayed for the Weeeezy!!! My friend Chelsea sold me some of my favorite local honey AND I got to visit my other friend Weezy who I used to hike with years back.
