The primary bedroom in our house has seen several iterations in the three years we’ve lived here but it always lacked something... Finally, this amazing wallpaper set the tone for just the right finishing touches!

This basement bathroom threw me a challenge at every then. I feel like it took forever to get to the finish line. But here we are. Finally, finally, the last yellow shower is gone from this house!
The basement was a completely (finished) blank slate when we moved in, so I did a quick update so kids could hang in the space a couple of years ago (last couple of pics), but it needed an upgrade! So I went to work to make it a warm and cozy hangout space. And finally, finally, it’s done. Gosh it was a tedious project! Wallpaper, trim, (7 doors in this space), so much oak.
I wanted hard floors but acquiesced to some strong feeling for carpet in the basement. I also was going to use SW Urbane Bronze (one of my favs) on the bottom but was told by a household member 👧🏻 that it looked like p**p on the walls in this lighting. 🙄 So we decided in SW Rock Bottom and it’s perfect.
As always, this is at the 95% stage with a few final touch ups needed but for now it’s ready for football 🏈 and movie night 🍿!
Sometimes updates are just a few tweaks to make spaces look and feel better. With some paint, wallpaper, decluttering and rearranging this room went from a catch-all to a cozy and comfortable home gym. And most importantly - it’s getting used!
Paint color is SW accessible beige
Wallpaper is Transform Dark Grey Herringbone Wood Peel and Stick Wallpaper (although I wish I would have used paste instead of peel and stick)
If you’re in the Minneapolis area over the holidays, I highly recommend walking around the skyway to see all of the beautiful decorations and outside at night to see the lights. And a stop at Spyhouse Coffee, the coolest coffee shop I’ve ever been to!
2023 had fewer projects because life was busy! But I’m hoping to get back at it in 2024 (or sooner!). First up is this workout room. I just started the cleanup!
Things I don’t love: the giant gun safe that came with the house and is not removable and the drop ceiling. I’ll see what I can work with while keeping it budget friendly! 🤞
Pro tip: for a free and great smelling Christmas centerpiece, trim some branches off your pine tree and put in a vase. It will cut your fingers up, cover you in sap and drop sharp pine needles all over your house. But it looks nice and it’s FREE! 🌲
As teenagers do, #3 wanted to move out of her (lovely) upstairs room to the basement. This awkward room had a wet bar in it (it was maybe a poker/game room?), so we took that all out and made her a closet. I wasn’t up for building new walls right now so we made it work with built ins and curtains!
Goodbye to the lake house and hello to the high rise Minneapolis apartment! Give me all the city views!!
Decorator Pro Tip: Get dogs that match your decor.
For those that as we, lake house listing is linked in my bio and my stories! 🏡

The lake house is going on the market. How many times did we get here this summer? ONE. So….. we made the difficult decision to sell it and focus on other things. OF COURSE I have new plans. 😁
We made it through the roller coaster that is the end of senior year only to be forced inside for our grad party due to weather. But we made the best of it! Now onto summer and college! 🥲
And hopefully some house projects!! 🏠
Happy Mother’s Day to pet mamas, plant mamas, aunties, and kid mamas! Last night we served a group of amazing kids a wonderful prom dinner. Congrats to the moms who raised the wonderful kids that came to our home. It was so fun and one of the highlights of momming through senior year!
The stair are done! Ugh, what a big project. I really couldn’t find any good examples of “how to” videos if what I wanted so I just made it up as I went! The stairs have been through a few temporary changes to get us through to this point, but this look is staying around for a while!.
Head to my stories for more detail!
Stair progress. Slow and steady. Maybe it will get done this week… 🤞
Stair progress continues… holes filled, wood sanded and stained, poly applied, drywall being patched. Railing arrives today!
I’ve never built stairs, but here we are. Lots of looking (2 years) to figure out what I wanted. And then I just went for it! Progress shot.
Happy National Puppy Day x 2.
We were back at the lake house to work on the fireplace. We used large strips across the frame to finish it off. When the snow melts, I’ll get outside to cut the baseboard and replace it. For now, things are slowly but surely coming along at this house! See my stories for all the snow up north, and how the fireplace came together.
I don’t think I posted the library with the new floors! Sun shining in is a bonus!! ☀️.
This family room has evolved slowly, one project at a time, over the past two years. The flooring was the final piece of the puzzle. And now carpet is gone from the main floor (and my knees need some recovery time).
This hallway got a big upgrade with all new trim, lighting, and fresh paint. Oh, and a cool painted arch and art! This wide, long hallway was one of the things that I loved about this house when we first looked at it. There’s potential for a lot more here, but I’m glad to get this far for now.
I feel like this is a smallish redo with big impact. The green wall is gone (the brick is wallpaper!), all of the trim has been replaced (window, doors and baseboard) and then just moving around furniture and accessories (no new purchases, all stuff I had). We still have to deal with carpet and ceilings but it’s an improvement!
New flooring, new art, new furniture arrangement. Took a bunch of pictures with my good camera and none really turned out. 😂
New bedroom floors. And an excellent floor model.
A lake house bedroom needs a fireplace, right? I’m going to try a creative, rustic finish on this one.
The final poster for this wall finally came!! And the “modern” teenage bedroom, to which I added some warmth and color, is complete. She has a strong sense of her style, this one!
This poster wall was inspired by What a fun way to add some color and whimsy to a wall!
I love kitchens. I don’t cook a lick, but I love to make them beautiful to look at, and functional for others who feed me.
Here are the last three we’ve done. All total gut jobs and built back from the ground up.
Thank you for reaching out to feature my home in the 608 Abode this month! Even though I felt like a bumbling idiot during the interview, they turned it into a cohesive story with beautiful photos. I’m so flattered. 😊
Go ahead and try a home project! It may not be perfect, but you’ll learn and feel so good that you did it!
