Did you know we offer sports physicals in our school based clinics?!
We are currently completing sports physicals for Monroe County students. If your child needs one you still have time to get it done before the school year is over.
Please have your student see their school nurse for a packet. You can also print the forms from our website: monroe.k12.tn.us under the department “School Health” tab.

With vaccine hesitancy on the rise we are starting to see the comeback of diseases that we haven’t had to deal with in a while in regard to outbreaks. Please do your research on vaccinations from credible sources before you make the choice to not vaccinate your children, they are being put at a higher risk for contracting these diseases by not being immunized.

Sports Physical Season is upon us! Your child’s School Nurse will have packets available for pick up soon. Please complete these thoroughly and return them. You can also find the packets on our Monroe County Schools website under School Health: Documents, Parent Information and Informational Sites.
Did you know that Chota has clinics at all the schools in the Monroe County School System? These clinics have a Family Nurse Practitioner available either in person or via Telehealth every school day.
Keeping our hands clean is one of the best things we can do to keep from getting sick and spreading germs.
Please practice and discuss with your children good handwashing techniques, proper sanitizer use, coughing and sneezing in tissues or the bend of the arm, and not sharing food, bottles, utensils and cups with others.

We are thankful to welcome Jennifer McKenzie to our VES school clinic, tomorrow. Ms. McKenzie will be available for 8:00 am - 12:00 pm to see students, staff, and faculty.

No worries if you were unable to get your forms in to your school nurse for the first week of receiving the Flu vaccine, we will be administering more next week and in the weeks to come. We have both the injection and mist available.
Jennifer McKenzie, Family Nurse Practitioner, has been serving Chota Community Health Services and the Monroe County School System for the past 22 years. Jennifer is a graduate from the University of Tennessee
where she attained both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing as well as a Master of Science in
Nursing. She is certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Center and was honored by the
Tennessee Nurse Association with the Senior Leadership Award. She enjoys participating in
medical mission trips. Some of the locations of her medical mission trips include: Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Tonga.

Chota Coordinated School Health Clinic Fact Sheet
-Did you know that all of the schools in Monroe County have clinics?
AND, did you know that there is a Family Nurse Practitioner available every school day, and they are able to see any Monroe County student or staff? Telehealth visits are also available, if appropriate.
-Any insurance can be billed: Commercial Insurance or TennCare.
Chota Coordinated School Health Clinics also offer sliding scale visits for those who don't have insurance.
-The Coordinated School Health Clinics can do basic labs: flu, strep, covid and urine dips. More extensive labs can be ordered if needed.
Medications can be prescribed on the day of the visit if needed.
-You do not have to change your Primary Care Provider to Chota.
-You can also get your Well Child check up, Sports Physical, or New Employee Physical and Immunizations in the school clinic.
-After any visit, the Family Nurse Practitioner will notify you about the visit findings through a phone call or a Patient Plan.
-The Nurse Practitioner in the Coordinated School Health Clinics is Jennifer McKenzie. She has been a Nurse Practitioner for 26 years and has been involved with the Coordinated School Health program since they were started.

Just a friendly reminder that this Friday, September 22nd is the last day to sign up and return your forms to receive your Influenza vaccine at school next week.
