In my mind, I thought I could earn lots of validation from others if they saw me as smart and successful. When I made that decision, I got sooo miserable. I was CONSTANTLY worried that if things didn’t go exactly like I wanted them to go (getting good grades, high entrance test scores, accepted into a top school) I would miss out on that external validation and my chance to be happy. 😖 Since then I’ve learned a lot and become much more content with living my life in a way I think is fulfilling, not that others would praise me for. This took a long time but it was only possible because of my intention to love myself and appreciate myself for living in a way that I myself am proud of 🥰
