Today may be National Nature Photography day, but I live for nature photography every day. Nature has been a huge passion of mine my whole life. And it’s truly where I am at peace, just being out there in nature with my camera. Over the past year, I’ve been out less than usual, so I miss it a lot. But here are a few shots of me over the past couple of years.
Top Left: photographing loons in Maine
Bottom Left: photographing the seasmoke at Nubble Lighthouse on a subzero degree morning
Top Right: at a Lupine field in Sugar Hill, NH
Bottom Right: standing in Coliseum Falls in Crawford Notch, NH

I couldn’t contain my excitement when a Pileated Woodpecker showed up in my backyard. I had been wanting to capture some shots for years now. He hopped around from tree stump to tree stump looking for bugs, with the whole place to himself. Then out of no where a rabbit dashes right by me and sneaks up right near the woodpecker. It happened so quick that I didn’t have time to change my settings but took a few snaps before the rabbit hopped away.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms! You are incredible, beautiful and resilient!
The Aurora early Saturday morning was incredibly stunning! I had not prepared for it because of the cloudy weather forecast. But I went outside at about 11pm and saw stars. Then I held my phone up to the sky and saw the pink glow. I messaged a friend and started rounding up my gear. I realized that I hadn’t charged my batteries after my last photoshoot but had one with very little juice left. We set out to Massabesic and we couldn’t believe how bright we could see the Aurora with the city light pollution nearby. I wanted to stay out longer but lasted as long as my camera battery did. Then we just watched as the Aurora danced and lit up the sky even more. I cannot wait for the next opportunity! I hope the sun flares continue to stay active!
Happy Earth Day 🌏
Pretty cool! No pun intended.

I’m sure you have heard everything and anything about the total solar eclipse tomorrow. But if you haven’t and if you want some quick tips for viewing, here you go!
- Do not look directly at the sun without special certified solar glasses. This also includes looking at the sun through your phone or camera viewfinder (use the glasses WITH solar filter through camera lens). Protect your eyes at all times.
- The only safe time to look at the sun without eyewear is during the total phase of the eclipse, which is only about 1-2 minutes long. I’m going to play it safe and keep the solar glasses on. But that’s just me.
- During the eclipse, the sun’s light is magnified, making it more intense and dangerous.
- If photographing the eclipse, use extra caution with a solar filter. The only time you can remove the filter is during totality.
In New Hampshire, right now the weather will be partly sunny and in the 60s. Depending on where you are in the state and in New England, weather and timing may be a little different for viewing. The start of the early phase of the eclipse is predicted to start around 2:15pm. Totality predicted around 3:28pm. The end of the eclipse is predicted around 4:38pm.
If you go out for viewing, plan to go out a little earlier in case timing is a little off. And hope you enjoy the view!
And there are other great sources out there as well to check out. I’ll drop some links in the comments below.

Wishing you all a very Happy Turkey Day filled with good company and good food! May you be reminded of grateful moments and blessings each and every day.
Some fan favorites here from a show a couple of weeks ago! The seashell shot is from a trip to Mexico, early in the morning for sunrise I was walking along the beach and came across the shell. The waves were coming in. I wanted to capture the shell as it was laying on the beach with the waves.
The Snowy Owl was my first Snowy Owl encounter along the sea coast of New Hampshire, just as the sun was setting on the horizon. I love the lighting here with the owl looking towards the sunset.
The next shot is the moon rising behind Whaleback lighthouse off of Newcastle, New Hampshire. It’s a spot that attracts a lot of photographers, but is such a beautiful place to see in person.
The last image here is of a Song Sparrow resting in a lupine field. I had been out photographing the lupines all day in Sugar Hill, and just at the end of the day I was capturing some shots of bees and these flowers, and happened to see this Song Sparrow land. I got a few shots before it flew away.

A fascinating fact about the Common Loon is that their eyes change color. This happens during the winter months. The color goes from the vibrant crimson red to a dull gray color. Their plumage dulls down too. It’s a bit unknown why this happens but the red eyes could help with underwater vision or to attract mates.

📣With today being Earth Day, I thought I would share the news that I am expecting in May! I am still continuing my photography ventures and photoshoots, but at a slower pace than usual. I realize I have not posted as much as I usually do and I am taking this time to really focus on the new adventure that lies ahead! I am looking forward to what's to come and starting my journey of motherhood!
🌎Our Earth is a special place and we should take care of it as much as we can! Enjoy the outdoors and keep visiting new places. Pick up trash whenever we can (oh, it's so bad this year). Appreciate the wildlife and unique views that surrounds us.
📸My shop is still open and I am still booking photography sessions. Feel free to reach out if you'd like to book a session or if you are interested in any of my home decor products.

Happy Easter! 🐇 🐥
There still may be an ounce of snow left, but it’s starting to feel like spring! Who’s ready?!
Some of the earliest wildflowers to bloom in New England are Spring Beauty, Hepatica, Bloodroot, Dutchman’s Breeches, Jack-in-the-Pulpit, and Trout Lily.
But even before the first flower petal appears, the earliest birds to arrive from their winter migration are Killdeer, Red-Winged Blackbird, and Eastern Phoebe.
Have you seen any of our spring arrivals yet?

My Story
Hello and thank you for visiting my page! My name is Christie and I am a nature / outdoor portraits photographer and graphic artist based in Southern New Hampshire. I specialize in unique nature decor and fine art photography prints featuring artistic and vibrant scenes of landscapes, moonscapes, the changing seasons, and wildlife. My products are hand-made and crafted by myself with high quality materials matched with a fine attention to detail.
I was a nature kid. Growing up in northern Vermont, I spent most of my childhood exploring the outdoors. Without cable and cell phones, somehow we survived :) ...I was usually outside exploring the woods – catching green frogs in the river, listening for the Hermit Thrush, keeping an eye out for trilliums. It was all so fascinating to me. This passion of mine stemmed from my father, who taught me a lot about nature and wildlife. He has a Ph.D. in Zoology and taught environmental science and animal behavior for many years. I was riding horses and handling snakes when I was as young as 3 years old. I’ve had some amazing opportunities to get up close and handle different animals, including lion cubs and a black and white ruffed lemur.
I live for adventure. And it’s not often you catch me sitting still. I will shoot photography any time of day or night. My motto has always been, you gotta live for the moments.
Through my photography, I want to portray unique perspectives of our natural world, show the natural essence, peacefulness, and beauty of its landscapes and wildlife. I have a deep admiration and respect for the environment. I want to share my connection to nature with others and help spread awareness of environmental protection. Each year, I donate a percentage of proceeds to support local environmental organizations.
