There are no shortcuts in organizing. Shoving things in closets and drawers doesn’t get rid of the clutter. It only moves it. Organizing takes time. Think about what you want to organize and why. Then come up with an action plan and a schedule to get it done. If thinking it all through is just too overwhelming, or you don’t know where to start, hire a professional organizer!
Planning ahead helps boost productivity by starting the day with a roadmap of what you need to accomplish.
📝 Decide what tasks are important, deadline driven, and need to get done.
📝 Be realistic about what you can accomplish. There are a limited number of hours in a day.
📝 Failing to plan your priorities can result in working on others priorities instead.
📝 Always build in time for unexpected interruptions.
I had such a great time discussing how I got started in the professional organizing industry and sharing organizing tips!
Thanks to TGFM Radio and Brother Greg Cellini for inviting me to speak about Get Organized Month on the Thank God for Monday podcast.

Decluttering allows you to assess what items you want to keep, and then the best way to organize them.
The first step in completing any project is to identify your goal.
A goal can be defined by answering the following questions:
1. WHAT are you looking to accomplish? (Declutter a closet? Organize a pantry? Clean out a garage?)
2. WHY is this goal important to you? (To more easily see my clothing? Know what items I need to purchase at the store? To put my car in the garage in the winter?)
3. WHEN will you make time to work on your goal? Is the time I am allotting realistic to meet my goal? (Daily? Weekly? Morning? Evening?)
After answering these questions, you are ready to create your action plan:
1. Write down what tasks need to be done and in what order.
2. Assign days and times to each task and record on your calendar.
3. If needed, set up appointments with vendors (closet installers, handymen, etc.)
4. Purchase any supplies that are needed.

An extra bedroom becomes an office. An entryway becomes a mudroom. Don't just declutter, reinvent your space.
Organizing is a process that takes time.
A few weeks ago, we posted the halfway point for a retail storeroom transformation. Now that we have completed the project, the client signed up for our maintenance package. The utilization of periodic upkeep sessions will allow us to review and update systems so the space can continue to meet the business' changing needs.

Halfway there!
Over the past few weeks, we have been transforming this retail storeroom. Decluttering, assessing inventory and flow, setting up zones, and determining the best storage solutions takes time. But the results will be worth it.
Stay tuned for the finished product!
