➡️ Bring your pets inside if possible, and make sure your others have shelter 🐶🐱🐔🐮
➡️ Secure any outdoor furniture, toys, and any other items that could blow away in the strong winds!
➡️ Remove those dead limbs you’ve been avoiding taking care of! You don’t want the wind blowing it into your 🚗 or 🏡 (or your neighbors!)
➡️ Check your home emergency kit (do you have one?!) make sure you have working flashlights and batteries, first aid kits, bottled water, and non perishable foods (just in case!)
If you have the ability to help in any way, I urge you to do so! 🙏

Be prepared!
Thunderstorms are expected to develop between 5pm and 8pm today near a warm front that will be located across northeast KS. Large hail, damaging wind and a few tornadoes could occur. Be sure to have at least two ways to receive weather warnings and be ready to take action.
Don’t let severe weather take you by surprise.
Check the forecast regularly to see if you are at risk for severe weather. Listen to local news or a NOAA Weather Radio to stay informed about severe weather watches and warnings.
Sign up for notifications. Pottawatomie County uses the Everbridge emergency notification system to alert residents about a variety of events, ranging from traffic accidents, fires, floods and other emergencies, to more routine announcements, such as burn bans, road closures, outdoor warning siren tests, and water utility maintenance.
The National Weather Service utilizes this same system for weather watches and warnings. Messages will be sent to residents on their preferred contact paths—cell phone, SMS, home phone, email, fax, pager and more—to ensure real-time access to potentially lifesaving information. Everbridge allows citizens to self-register and manage their own contact methods.
Residents are encouraged to register immediately to receive these alerts. A link with instructions is available at https://www.pottcounty.org/431/Emergency-Alerts.
Individuals without internet access or a computer may contact the Pottawatomie Emergency Management Department at 785-457-3358 to sign up for emergency alerts.
Create a family communications plan that includes an emergency meeting place and related information. If you live in a mobile home or a home without a basement, identify a nearby safe building you can get to quickly, such as a church or a family member's home.
Practice your plan by conducting a family severe weather drill regularly so everyone know what to do if a tornado is approaching. Make sure all members of your family know where to go when tornado warnings are issued. Don't forget pets if time allows.
A statewide tornado drill is scheduled for Wednesday, March 6 at 11 am.

Public Works crews are out today in multiple locations, working to patch potholes as quickly as we can, including on Sunset Avenue south of Claflin Road. Protect those pipes!
Dangerously-cold wind chills of -15 to -25 will be common tonight into Friday morning and Friday night into Saturday morning. There is a small chance for very light snow in northern areas this afternoon and evening. Warmer temperatures return Sunday and continue into the work week.
So close….. yet so far away!
I think it’s time! 😂
🧊 ❄️ ⛄️ 🤕 Did you know that slip and falls are the second leading injury lawsuit in the United States?
In a world where everything can be delivered with services like DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Walmart you could be putting yourself unknowingly at risk.
These lawsuits can easily amount to upwards of 1/2 a MILLION 💸 😯
❄️ ⛄️ 🥶 Today we deal with snow, but that is not my biggest concern as we dredge forward through the week….
Temps are barely going to be above 0* for most of us through the next 10 days!!
Business and homeowners alike should take preventative steps to protect their biggest assets!
50 yards!!! 😯
This is I-70 at mile marker 108, by Quinter. Troopers are working a semi truck crash and visibility is about 50 yards at time with heavy snow.
Dangerous conditions to drive in!
