Happy Solstice! To honor the sun and welcome winter I am embracing the cold and submerging into the ice. The winter solstice marks the shift in the sky where the sun reaches its furtherest point north and then begins to move back into the southern sky. Since it will be several months before the heat returns, this season of the year for centuries has been used as a time to turn inward. To reflect on the years events. To rest the body from the chaos of life in the light. Embracing the cold allows for harmony within the season. Resisting what is, only makes life’s challenges harder. From a modern day standpoint, the practice of cold therapy has taken notice by many. From a physical recovery aspect it is beneficial. However, renewed knowledge in this age old practice is actually showing the mental benefits are greater than the physical. With technology causing our dopamine baseline to become extremely askew and our receptors to become trapped in a loop, cold therapy is a healthy way to recalibrate and increase our dopamine receptors. Cold therapy, specifically ice water/cold showers, creates a slow and sustained release of dopamine over the course of many hours. Dopamine is the hormone in the body responsible for movement, memory, pleasurable reward, and motivation. Having a sustained release can motivate each of us to be really f’n productive….as well as….not feeling like you need to grab your phone for your next dopamine hit. Have you ever tried a cold plunge or cold therapy? Show of hands…who thinks I’m crazy?? 🤪Give it a try! If you have any questions on where to start, shoot me a note or leave a comment below! Happy Solstice friends! Put your phone down, embrace the cold, and welcome to winter! Cheers! ✌🏼💙

Looking for a way to test, challenge, and improve your hip mobility? Then give the shoe getup a try. - Start slow - Use a towel or nothing at all to get comfortable with the movement pattern - Always do these barefoot to allow for full ankle mobility - Continually use more challenging…ie: heavier, wider, more awkward shaped…objects to balance on your foot - Practice both sides/legs to avoid increasing instability - Most importantly: HAVE FUN! Laugh at yourself, don’t take it too serious, and don’t give up. Let me know if you have any questions! www.enhanced-wellness.com

It’s Fire Cider Season! In honor of the first day of Fall tomorrow I decided to try my hand at some homemade Fire Cider. While I’ve had Fire Cider in the past, I’ve never made my own! A joyous time was had. A mess was made. And immune boosting herbal support is on the way. Here is the base recipe from @herbalacademy I used: 1 large red onion, chopped 3 heads of garlic, chopped 1/2 c fresh ginger root, grated 1/2 c fresh turmeric root, grated 1/4 c fresh horseradish root, grated 1 organic lemon with peel, diced 1/4 c fresh thyme Then on my own I added: 2 jalapeños without the seeds, you can add more if you’d like to add even more punch 3 cinnamon sticks 2 liters of raw, unpasteurized Apple Cider Vinegar infused with Cayenne, Honey, and Lemon. You can use plain AVC, just make sure it is raw, unpasteurized, and has the mother in it. Directions: • Add all the ingredients into two half gallon mason jars, cover with Apple Cider Vinegar. Make sure to cover ingredients by a couple inches, and leave a couple inches of space for the fermentation process. • Cut wax paper into squares and cover the jar before sealing tightly with the lid. • Store in a warm place, I put mine on top of the fridge. Shake the jar every day. • After three weeks, the cider will have a powerful taste. Strain the herbs out of the liquid. Infuse with 1/3 c local raw honey, mix thoroughly, and bottle it. • Enjoy ALL winter as wonderful immune tonic, digestion stimulate, and circulation booster. • One shot glass size serving a day is all you need! • Caution: it will back a massive punch! Let me know if you have any questions. Happy Fall Y’all! ✌🏼💛
