One of the best ways to dress up your engine bay, is Downstar! I had a similar kit on my previous M2, and knew I wanted to get the kit for the new M2 as well. This guide could be used for almost all of the G8X line, of the M2, M3 and M4.

All right y'all, the question you always get when making exhaust changes is how does it sound? With all of the changes to my G87 M2 exhaust line, I wanted to share a full comparison of the mods, side by side from stock to fully changed out.

We are comparing:
1. Fully OEM stock
2. Active Autowerke EL midpipe, OEM back box
3. Active Autowerke EL midpipe plus new axleback back box.

Each stage definitely makes a change and addresses the common concern of the new G8X models being too quiet regardless of what mode you are running in. I did my best to compare equally and from the same distance with the same equipment. The best test is always in person, but this at least gives you an idea of the changes these upgrades can make.

All right yall, I wanted to follow up with the completed shots of my G87 M2 after the unbelievable work by Joe and his team at Kimball’s Hands on Detailing and Auto Accessories. The irony is these pics do NOT do justice to the quality of the job they did.

This was a full paint correction and two stage ceramic coating from Sky's the Limit Car Care, including their new pro only D-Quartz ceramic. In addition, the did a full interior detail including protectant and more. Lastly, the fishbowl is gone with the full STEK ceramic tinting to complete both the look and the function. If you are going to have this work done, use the best possible products for the best results.

I deeply appreciate the work done here and the meticulous attention to detail at every stage, even including taking care of minor paint mistakes I have made along the way. Joe, Kody, Joey and team are fantastic people and worth the drive regardless of where you are in the Pacific Northwest. There are many great shops in the area, but Kimball's should be on your list to check with first, if you want any work done.

Joe and I are collaborating on a whole video series showing this process, and their attention to detail that I will be sharing soon.

If you have followed since my 435i or F87 M2C days, you know how much I love Active Autowerke and the quality of their products. I knew before I even ordered my G87 M2 that I would be running their exhaust on the new car as well.

The biggest thing I noticed about the G8X line is the exhaust is really tame for such a great car and motor, and this is the way to fix it. The new axleback exhaust is excellent, and pairs perfectly with their equal length midpipe as well. Check it out, I love the sound of my G87 M2 now very much. Moderate in efficient mode, and more than spicy enough for me with a deeper note in Sport Plus. Exactly what I wanted with the M2.
