Be assured that it is not a scam or junk mail. It must be returned within 10 days.

General Assembly approves three local judges

The Virginia General Assembly today voted to fill three judicial seats in the 22nd District. That encompasses Danville, Pittsylvania County and Franklin County.

Lawmakers unanimously voted to move Pittsylvania County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Judge Brian Turpin (pictured, below) to the Circuit Court bench. He will join Timothy W. Allen of Franklin County, Joseph W. Milam and James Reynolds of Danville and Stacey W. Moreau of Pittsylvania County as the district's Circuit Court justices. Milam will soon retire his post.

Replacing Turpin in J&D Court will be Franklin County attorney Melissa Keen. She has served as a fill-in Juvenile Court judge in the district.

State Lawmakers Thursday also unanimously selected long-time Danville attorney Greg Haymore as the district's new General District Court judge. Haymore has had a private practice for 27 years and also has extensive experience as a temporary judge. He will join newly-appointed Les Adams and Allan Dudley as the district's General District justices.
