Gorgeous morning in DC!
Momma gets a little head start to the day while the yahoos snooze away. Some sights along the way…
(Fact: One of my all time favorite running routes is under the cherry blossoms on the national mall. Unfortunately, it is all fenced off in prep for July 4th).
God works in huge and small ways. The small victory this morning was that it was raining in DC and I did not feel like running on the treadmill…I was pleasantly surprised to see a Peloton in the hotel cardio room! It felt so good to ride!!!
Also, proving my point that the hotel gyms are usually empty. Take advantage of the “free” gym day.
Travel Tips:
1. No shame in picking a travel day outfit that can be repurposed later in the trip to workout in.
2. If you are going to be getting in tons of steps sightseeing, prioritize lifting to start your day.
3. Remember, you will most likely never see these people again, so no holding back. You do you and go for it! (Honestly, I usually have the gym to myself at hotels).

Why do I workout?
I workout to be strong, healthy, and build stamina. That way, when I am post run & lift session, and my kiddos say, “let’s go on a bike ride!!!”….I can do it!!!!

Take a deep breath.

It is HOT!
Running with your pup?
✨Go early in the day before the pavement gets too hot. (Check the pads of their paws often).
✨Take shade breaks in the cool grass.
✨Have water handy to give a refreshing drink.
✨Slow down and keep it shorter distances.
✨Watch for signs of it being too much and adjust, if need be.
✨HAVE FUN!!!

Remember, fitness is not always about pushing your limits. Enjoy a refreshing low-impact day!
Low impact workouts can help improve cardiovascular healthy, boost your mood, and give your muscles a much needed break.
Some low impact workouts: in the saddle cycle, yoga, core training, walking, and dancing.
Somedays, you put on your marathon FINISHER shirt and remember all that you have already accomplished. Then, happily go for an easy 5k run with your puppy.
Put in the work. Accomplish amazing goals. Be proud of yourself! Keep dreaming.

Expect the unexpected.
Planned our morning run to hit this spot for when I THOUGHT the 5k runners would be arriving. Turns out, we were an hour early. Ran the rest of our five miles home. Did a few chores. Drove back.
It is always a pleasure to cheer on the Love Like JJ 5k runners. That hill is a beast at two miles into the race! Great job everyone!!!

Every drop of sweat is a step closer to my goals. Lifting weights is not just about building muscle; it is about building resilience, discipline, and confidence.
No matter where you are in your fitness journey, remember that every rep, every set, every workout is progress. Push yourself, challenge your limits, and embrace the strength within you.
I would like to talk to whoever decided Global Running Day should be in June.
Holy humidity. Rover and I cut it a half mile short at 3.5 today, because I was worried about him. A good 30 minutes of panting on the cool floor and he is good to go.
Run safe! Listen to your body. Drink lots of water. Go after sunset. Use a treadmill. Happy Global Running Day!!!
Don’t feel like running today? DON’T!
Stop stressing over what you are “supposed” to do for your workout and just GO MOVE!!!
I put off my workout for hours. I even cleaned and scrubbed showers during my procrastination. (That says a lot).
Eventually I asked myself, “What do you feel like doing?” So I happily hopped on the bike and picked up some weights.
Get out of your own way!
Summertime running calls for a towel to always be in the car. Sweaty and gross, but always glad to have gotten out in the fresh air and worked the lungs a bit.
