Our “BLUE” day has been rescheduled for MONDAY (Oct. 17th). Please send your child to school wearing something blue. We will have a building picture taken to celebrate Watson receiving the Blue Ribbon award. Thank you!

Today we continued to investigate air. We made parachutes & went outside to see how air effects a parchute. The wind did not cooperate, so the experiment did not go according to plan, but we used them in the classroom as well to see the main idea.

Today we investigated “air” in science class. The kids enjoyed conducting experiments to see how we know that air is there. They also learned that air takes up space and has weight.

Yesterday we reached our class goal and earned an ice cream party today! The kiddos were quite excited about their ice cream sundaes.

Today we had some fun with a room hunt! Students had to walk the room and search for 12 hidden word cards with the ou/ow sound that we have been working on & sort them appropriately. Just a fun way to work off some energy & practice reading at the same time! The kids loved it!

The kids had a GREAT time today watching the high school students present “The Candy Machine”.

Jackson's Sauder and Perry's Watson elementary schools get National Blue Ribbon award Only 13 Ohio schools and 297 private and public schools nationwide were given the National Blue Ribbon School status.

Today we wrapped up our unit on Fairy Tales and Tall Tales. One of the Tall Tales we read was the story of Paul Bunyan. In this story, they talk about Paul eating giant “flapjacks”. Although our flapjacks were not giant, they sure were delicious! 😊 The kids loved them! Of course I had to add some mini chocolate chips & whip cream 🥰🥰🥰 We also began working on a Paul Bunyan art project for our bulletin board. We had a great afternoon! Don’t forget that there is no school tomorrow! Have a great long weekend!

We practiced and discussed our emergency drills today (first “real” practice is tomorrow). Then we went outside this afternoon for a little break. They are doing a great job this week! They’re tired, but doing awesome!

A couple of fun activities that we completed on Wednesday & Thursday. They turned out so cute, so I hung them in the back of our room for now. They wrote about what makes our class feel like a family. We then made “All About Me Rainbows”.

Welcome back! We had a GREAT first day! This week we will be doing a lot of “get to know you” activities. Next week we will begin our actual curriculum & running our actual routines & schedule. Thursday and Friday are Gym days, so if your child doesn’t have gym shoes at school, please have them wear gym shoes to school on these days.

A note from our Music teacher:

Hello!

At the beginning of the year the second graders will be making instruments from recycled materials. I would deeply appreciate it if you could save some recyclables for me!

Materials I am looking for:
1. Cans and Jars (Pringles containers, soup cans, pasta sauce jars, etc.)
2. Paper towel and toilet paper rolls
3. Water bottle caps

And anything else you think might be useful to make an instrument out of!

Please send these items in with your child the first or second week of school. Thank you!

Field day was a hit today! They were running around so fast that it was hard to get pictures!

I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you for a wonderful 2 years (most of you have been with me that long). You and your children have been an amazing group to work with! These last couple of years have been some of the most stressful times of my career (with all of the outside factors with COVID coming into play). You all have been amazing. We always had open & honest communication & I tried to support, guide, & do my very best to keep everyone safe & healthy while keeping all of us in the classroom! I think we did AMAZING! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I will truly miss working with all of you! Have a great summer & take care!

What an awesome day! The kid’s reactions when they came in were absolutely priceless!! We did “camp” activities all day! The students got mini flashlights and we did “flashlight” reading, we made s’mores with fudge stripe cookies & marshmallow cream, we read camp stories, sang songs, and did some camping math! Such a fun day! They didn’t want it to end! 🥰🥰🥰

What a GREAT day at the Pro Football HOF! The kids had a blast and we had beautiful weather for lunch and a fun outdoor experience!

Thank you to everyone who either volunteered their time, provided treats, drinks, or goodies for our St. Patrick’s Day party today. It was wonderful! It was so nice to have a “normal” party again!!! It was busy in the room, so I didn’t get as many pictures as I wanted. Thanks again for all of your support!
