Your eye will automatically see bright colors first, this is why I like to suggest wearing light neutrals.. it helps the family be noticed first and pop off the dark and busier background. I love the choices of textures, tones and various shirt styles on this family!

I could do newborn sessions every day. Freezing time on a tiny human that was knit together in his mother’s womb is magically. Every day they grow and change and the only thing that stops that is a photo.

Locations part 1. For an Indoor + outdoor option -this studio in NoDa. I love creating the warm and vintage vibe with the soft neutrals featuring 2 of my client closet dresses. Then hit the streets for a different vibe. This location does have an extra fee but it is great for little ones who have early bed times because I’m not focused on the sun’s position or harsh light, and it’s perfect for milestone sessions / cake smash / 6 month session/ or cute family portraits and doesn’t depend on the weather- rain or summer heat 🥵

The Art… before I was a photographer, I was an artist. I majored in art in college. I loved charcoal drawings, oil painting, film photography that taught me how to see and manipulate the camera to create a feeling, and then digital photography that taught me how to layer use photoshop masks.

It’s easy to get so focused on the smiling pic because it’s typical. It’s what’s expected. It’s traditional. It’s basic. But I find more joy in the photos that DON’T make you focus on how white your teeth are, how mad your husband was that day, all the bribes it took for little Johnny to smile and the whole shoot felt like a p**p show… but in focusing on a what will be a blurred memory, a detail you forgot, the start of a journey, a time moving too quickly, something you could frame that says more. It makes people stop and think about the image. To make people think how? And why? and that’s beautiful all in the same stare.

The story of mama running errands with her babe in the city, window shopping, taking your time soaking in your littles, maybe grab a coffee, stop by the flower shop to grab a centerpiece for the dinner table, and rushing back to the car to get home by nap time.

When you’ve waited for this moment- to hold a baby in your arms, you don’t want to let it go. Documenting those moments are the only way to preserve them. With newborn photos, you get to show up beautifully for your new babe. When words can’t, photos can.

JOSHUA TREE | if you’re going, take me with you! I was meeting my husband after his work trip in Palm Springs and the drive to Joshua tree was about 45-1hr from there. We rented a car and drove up there on Friday (definitely recommend a non- weekend and not in the summer). It was literally perfect weather! I packed a bag of different outfits, my camera, my iPhone and iPhone tripod. I mapped out each place on my list to shoot and we made our rounds with the paper map given to us at the park entrance. Luckily all the spots were less than a mile to get to. Each hike had its own parking entrance and a guided trail with signs. The rocks were the hardest part to climb in cowgirl boots 😅.

All of these were taken on my iPhone 13 Pro.

I heard a quote the other day that said “the shot created the experience”… and I was like that is so true! I had the shot I wanted to get but the road to get it was the adventure, the bonding, the fun. If it wasn’t for getting the shot, I don’t know if we would have wanted to go hike or leave the pool lol. Plus, on the ride up there, this song plays and my husband says that he makes him think of me/us. I tried to keep the tears in. It just made me see how much he loves me and will go anywhere to be with me 🥹
