We had a great time at last night's Tosco Music Holiday Party! It's not just getting the opportunity to perform, it's also the opportunity to catch up with so many of our fellow area musicians who always WOW us with their talent AND the opportunity to catch up with so many of you who simply just love music and are so dedicated (calling out the Tosco volunteers here!) to keeping the local music scene alive and flourishing. Ya'll really do rock!

Special thanks to Bruce BK Keedy and Eric Sayne for jumping in with us, fairly last minute, on vocals, mandolin, and banjo and simply nailing it. "Go Tell It On The Mountain" wants us to make a joyful noise, and boy we think that's exactly what we brought.

Y’all we had a great time in Boone this past weekend! Sam and Resa (Shady Grove Concert Series) even managed to catch our Friday night show @ Coyote Kitchen.

Did y’all know we could play an entire 3 hour show and ONLY PLAY ORIGINALS? Yes, and we even had original songs we couldn’t squeeze in.

We've no idea why everything in Boone is "lost." Their football team doesn't frequently lose things, but apparently everything else gets misplaced, including the provinces.

10 Year flashback! If you know Moochies Tavern in Matthews well enough, you'd know that it was previously "Skinnyz" and Province of Thieves was a regular performing act there back in the days when the band was still a duo, which worked out because the corner they jammed us into wasn't big enough for more than two.

Well, where do we start? Let's go with the intimate setting, and this isn't just us marketing another show, this appearance really IS intimate.

Hosted in the home of our good friends Sam and Resa, the atmosphere is relaxed...like your gathering with family...minus the arguing with your conspiracy theorist Uncle. You get up close and personal with the band. The evening begins with a shared meal and gets followed by the band presenting our latest Thieves album with you in living-room-like-setting, complete with stories about how our songs all came to be. Thanks to Fiddlin’ Fish Brewing for inviting us up to beautiful downtown Winston-Salem last night! What an amazing venue and an especially enthusiastic and engaged audience. Just the kind of crowd we love to play for!

Beer review: I had the FF Mexican lager (not an IPA fan, light lagers for me) and it was indeed light and very tasty. In fact, I rarely drink more than one and I’d knocked down the first only halfway through the first set…simply way too much music left to go without something to sip on. Did y’all know that beer is great vocal chord sauce? There’s my review, excellent beer if I have to go back for a refill. Recommend -G

I’m sure we’ve frustrated many casual JB fans over the years when we’ve received the “play some Buffet!” request and answered with “Tin Cup Chalice” or “The Wino and I Know.” Jimmy was just such a great songwriter, the bard of the islands, we paid tribute all along by covering his great songs that maybe weren’t so crazy-popular. Mind you, “Margaritaville” really is one-in-a-million and deserves to be played, there were just so many other bands covering it, we decided we’d simply go a little deeper in his stellar repertoire. RIP Jimmy, you lived your life like a song, and all our lives were the richer for it.

Thieves fans! Check out the review of our latest album "Whitecaps in the Cornfield" on Pitch Perfect! 4 out of 5 Stars...that's like...80% of the stars! Last I checked, a B grade is good, unless you're looking at a restaurant health inspection score.

The reviewer, Matt Jensen, also says cool stuff like:

"In my auditory sojourn, I first encountered the opus christened "Walking With The Devil.” Its essence resonates with an organic fervor, a warmth that envelops like a sonic embrace."

Thieves fans! Thanks to some kind person hijacking my Facebook profile, I'd been rendered Facebook invisible for the last several weeks. If you sensed the Thieves had been awfully quiet for a long time, you sensed correctly ... and now you know why. Profile has been wrestled back, SO LET'S CATCH UP SHALL WE?

YES, as a matter of fact, we ARE playing some shows this Fall!

We're excited to appear @ Fiddlin' Fish Brewing Company in Winston Salem, NC for the first time on Friday Sep 8th!

We'll return to Boone, NC in mid October and actually spend TWO nights up there playing an all-original show at Coyote Kitchen Friday 10/20 and returning to Lost Province Brewing Saturday 10/21.

AND, one of our most-favorite venues, hosted by our most-favorite people (Sam and Resa Treadaway), sees our return on Saturday October 14th where we'll feature songs from our new album in the intimate Shady Grove Concert hall (aka Sam and Resa's place).
