While James O'Keefe was judging springers at the Patriot trial in New Hampshire and Elaine Vanderslice O'Keefe was judging cockers in New Glarus, WI, Morgan Haglin of Pine Shadows was running Rockhaven’s Tiernan, Maeve and Briggs in the North Dakota springer trial 2nd open. Maeve and Briggs made it to the third series and Sir Briggs of Rockhaven was awarded 3rd place! Way to go Morgan and Briggs

12 years ago yesterday while I was in South Dakota hunting, Rockhaven’s Princess Maggie gave birth to Rockhaven’s first English springer spaniel litter. Our plan was to keep the best of the litter. Elaine Vanderslice O'Keefe wanted half brown muzzle girl. I wanted anyone else. Half brown muzzle girl drove me crazy with her screeching cries while she crawled over the pen walls no matter what we did to prevent it. Elaine of course won and half brown muzzle girl became Rockhaven’s Lady Caera and my best girl (second only to Maggie). Caera went on to be my first and only dog I finished a National with - so far. She earned her AFC and has been with me hunting in South Dakota on nearly every trip since her birth. Can’t imagine life without her. Happy Birthday Caera!

Team Rockhaven was glad to be back in the fields this weekend at the Northern Minnesota English Springer Spaniel Club Cocker and Springers trials. James O'Keefe judged the Cocker Open & Amateur All Age stakes and Elaine judged the Cocker puppy stake. We ran in the Springer Amateur stake with Paddy making it to the third where he had some tough luck. He is still a very good boy! Five Reindeer puppies competed in the thirteen dog puppy stake! This was Tiernan, Maeve and Briggs first time out! Briggzy took second, brother Mando (Comet) took first, sister Maple (Cupid) took fourth!
